Prekindergarten Teacher

St. Charles is looking for an experienced, full-time Prekindergarten Teacher who has the desire and heart to work with children ages 4-5 years old during the school year (no summer program). The ideal candidate will be fully qualified and have the energy and heart to fuel our mission of making disciples of Jesus Christ who strive for excellence in faith, virtue, service, and academics. 

St. Charles Preschool values teamwork, collaboration, respect, and strong relationships between our principal, teachers, aides, parents, and students. We understand that all children are a gift from God, and each child brings their own unique personality and experiences into the classroom that require love and patience. We value positive behavior guidance while the young children in our classrooms continue to learn how to process their thoughts, feelings, and emotions. 

St. Charles Preschool is a play-based preschool where children learn about the world God created through their senses and experiences. Our Catholic faith is embedded in every part of the preschool day. St. Charles Preschool is part of a larger K-8 school and community with a strong church and school relationship that supports and fosters faith formation and a love for Jesus. Our preschool year begins and ends approximately the same as the rest of our K-8 school year. We do have an aftercare program, which is open until 5:00 PM. 

Applicants should be professional, loving, enthusiastic, self-directed, and dedicated individuals who have prior experience teaching and working with pre-kindergarten-aged (4-5-year-old) children.

Our new Pre-Kindergarten teacher will:

• Be a practicing Catholic, passionate about the faith 
• Have a 4-year degree in a child development field and/or meet MN DCYF licensing requirements.
• Create and support a caring, loving, faith-filled environment with developmentally appropriate educational activities, lessons, assessments, and hands-on experiences.
• Confident and comfortable working with students who have special needs
• Work collaboratively with the Preschool Director & preschool program staff.
• Have the ability to establish and maintain working relationships and effective oral and written communication with students, parents, colleagues, and administration.
• Demonstrate evidence of positive classroom management techniques, with assistance from the classroom teacher’s aide. 
• Maintain confidentiality of students, families, teachers, and administration. 
• Have experience and ability to use technology in the classroom: iPad, MacBook, Seesaw…
• Complete a required Archdiocesan background check, VIRTUS training, and an additional required DHS background check before the start date. 
• Be able to work 40+ hours per week 
• Some additional requirements may include some evenings and weekends for conferences, family activities, open houses, and preschool staff meetings.
