Description

Purpose of Position: The Director of Parish Advancement is responsible for creating and implementing a comprehensive development strategy that supports long-term growth of the parish, with active participation in liturgies and programs.

The ideal candidate combines strong financial acumen with excellent database management skills and a commitment to exceptional donor stewardship. This is a full-time position working Monday – Friday.  Occasional evenings and weekends when deemed necessary for a ministerial role.

General Accountabilities: Employment in and by Pax Christi is substantially different from secular employment. Church employees must conduct themselves in a manner which is consistent with and supportive of the mission and purpose of the Catholic Church. Their public behavior must not violate the faith, morals, or laws of the Church or the Archdiocese, such that can embarrass the Church or give rise to scandal. Adherence to confidentiality is required in all matters pertaining to members’ personal information. It is required that this employee be an active, participating Roman Catholic.

Representative Responsibilities:

Be present and prepared to work, on time, for all scheduled hours and events. Participate in staff activities appropriate to one’s role, including but not limited to staff meetings, shared ministry celebrations, staff events such as staff retreat days, and engage in self-development activities such as personal reading, networking, and continuing education as appropriate to one’s role.

Responsibilities

  1. Create and implement comprehensive development strategies that support long-term growth and sustainability.
  2. Oversee and maintain donor records; monitor and analyze giving trends.
  3. Cultivate donor relationships by producing personalized correspondence and preparing timely acknowledgment letters.
  4. Generate annual report data for inclusion in parish communications.
  5. Develop and promote planned giving initiatives, developing strategies, and ensuring the long-term stability of Pax Christi Catholic Community.
  6. Collaborate with the Communications team to promote the church’s mission through marketing materials, digital media, and special events to increase visibility and encourage giving.

 

 

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Project management experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in donor management, nonprofit accounting, or accounts receivable.
  • Experience with donor systems and accounting software – preferably ParishSoft.
  • Strong Excel skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
  • Previous experience in working in faith-based settings.
  • Previous experience in working with or supervising adult volunteers, with the ability to empower, affirm, and collaborate.
  • Trained in the use of applications such as Microsoft Word, parish database software, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Self-motivated, eager to learn, and receptive to change.

Mental and Physical Demands

  • Adaptability to varying tasks, responsibilities, personality styles and time requirements.
  • Ability to work scheduled hours with flexibility for occasional evenings and weekends when needed.
  • Strong service orientation in support of ministry and community objectives.
  • Ability to lift twenty pounds.

Background Check: Successful completion of background check is required along with Virtus training. A signed Archdiocesan Code of Conduct must be on file.
