Description
Good Shepherd Catholic Church is seeking a part-time Family Formation Coordinator to lead our Family Formation ministry for children in grades 1–6 and their families. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who has a passion for sharing the Catholic faith, enjoys working with volunteers and families, and is looking for a flexible ministry position.
Position Overview
The Family Formation Coordinator oversees our monthly Family Formation program, supports volunteer catechists, communicates with families, and helps children and parents grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ and His Church. The position works closely with the Pastor and Director of Operations to provide a welcoming, organized, and faith-filled experience for participating families.
Schedule
- Approximately 5 hours per week
- One Sunday per month on-site for Family Formation
- Flexible remote hours for planning, communication, and administration
Responsibilities
- Coordinate monthly Family Formation sessions for children in grades 1–6
- Recruit, train, and support volunteer catechists
- Prepare curriculum and organize program materials
- Communicate regularly with participating families
- Coordinate program logistics and registration
- Maintain volunteer compliance with Archdiocesan safe environment requirements
- Assist with summer programming such as Totus Tuus
- Manage the Family Formation budget and program records
- Collaborate with parish staff and assist with occasional bulletin or website content
- Perform other ministry-related duties as assigned
Qualifications
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who:
- Is a practicing Catholic committed to the teachings of the Catholic Church
- Has strong organizational and communication skills
- Enjoys working with children, parents, and volunteers
- Can work independently and manage multiple responsibilities
- Is comfortable using computers and common office software
- Has previous experience in faith formation, education, youth ministry, or parish ministry (preferred)
- Has a bachelor's degree or equivalent ministry experience (preferred)
- Can successfully complete a criminal background check and Safe Environment requirements
