Annunciation is a Preschool-8th grade Catholic school in the heart of southwest Minneapolis. We are Minnesota’s only Catholic, International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme school! Our mission is to foster each child’s potential to create a better world through faith, virtue, knowledge, and service to others. Serving students and families since 1923, we currently serve over 350 students ages 3-14, with class sizes ranging from 15-22 students per class. Our staff has about 30 teachers and a support staff that includes paraprofessionals and mental health professionals to support all of our learners and educators to thrive.
Description
Annunciation Catholic School is currently seeking multiple full-time paraprofessional teachers to support individual students and classrooms at the 2nd Grade, 7th Grade, and 8th Grade levels. Educators in this position will join a supportive and collaborative teaching community in a support role, directly supporting individual students in most cases and classroom level support in some opportunities.
Responsibilities:
- Follow plans and procedures of Annunciation Catholic School
- Supervise students at all times during class and follow schedules
- Provide direct support and differentiated attention to match individual student needs
- Attend to students’ physical, personal, academic, and emotional needs, providing assistance with language translation and hygiene when necessary
- Communicate effectively with students, staff, and lead teachers and maintain a professional relationship with students and staff
- Co-teach lesson components, as determined by the teacher, by leading small-group and individual discussions and reviewing classwork
- Organize classroom and teaching materials, and verify and track student attendance and performance
- Perform clerical duties such as typing, filing, and photocopying; grade tests and homework; track student progress
- Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with students, parents, and staff, and participate in parent–teacher conferences and faculty meetings and events
Requirements
- Openness to working in a Catholic faith-based setting
- Experience with trauma-informed practices and settings
- Ability to apply understanding of child development (physical, emotional, and academic)
- Ability to interact and clearly communicate with children and staff members
- Strong individual relationship building, classroom management, and oral communication skills with children and adults
- Ability to be flexible and adaptive
- Proficiency with Google suite and use of interactive boards
- Respect for children and their potential with a creative, joyful approach to learning and teaching
- Experience working with children, preferred experience with diverse learning needs and qualifying for special education support
- Associate degree with significant experience; bachelors degree preferred; certification preferred but not required
Compensation
$17.50-22.50 per hour - Potential benefit eligibility for full-time postings
