Maintenance Associate-Weekends

Purpose of Position: To support the Maintenance Supervisor in performing the proper cleaning, light maintenance, and security of facilities.  Maintains physical aspects of the facilities to provide a safe, secure, clean, orderly, and visually appealing environment in accordance with the Cathedral’s mission.

Responsibilities:

• Provide custodial and light maintenance services for all facilities and grounds routinely and as needed
• Sweeping, mopping, cleaning bathrooms, offices, kitchens and dining areas, hauling out garbage, moving chairs and tables and other activities related to event preparation and clean up
• Provide facility access control for planned events as needed
• Respond to observed security concerns through appropriate notifications
• Identify and recommend improvements needed at all properties
• Other responsibilities as needed

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

• Ability to use snow removal, lawn maintenance and other and power equipment as needed.
• Must be flexible with work schedule and to work for longer periods of time when position demands.
• Ability to react to hostile and/or hazardous events and persons.
• Lift and move heavy objects using proper techniques, up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to respond reasonably to emergency facility situations

• High school diploma (or equivalent) required; some post-secondary education preferred
• At least 1 year of facility custodial experience preferred.
• Understanding of Catholic Faith, its rituals, liturgical calendar, and practices preferred.
• Successful completion of required background checks and safe environment training.
