Description

Shakopee Area Catholic School is seeking a Paraprofessional who is responsible for providing a high-qualify, safe, and engaging classroom environment for elementary students by planning, managing, and implementing research-based curricula to ensure developmentally appropriate instruction. This is a full-time, temporary (1-year), 40 hours/week position.  Responsibilities will include:

  • Oversee all data collection of students and makes recommendations to teacher.
  • Tutor and assist children individually or in small groups in order to help those master assignments and to reinforce learning concepts presented by the teachers.
  • Organize and supervise games and other recreational activities to promote physical, mental and social development.
  • Uphold the mission of SACS.
  • Create positive educational climate.
  • Manage student behavior in the classroom by invoking approved disciplinary procedures.

The pay range for this position is $16-19 per hour based on experience and qualifications. This position offers medical and dental insurance, 403b retirement, paid time off, and other elective benefits as chosen by the employee.

Building on the tradition of the Shakopee Catholic Community, the Parish of Saints Joachim and Anne exists to passionately lead people to Jesus Christ and sacramental life in the Catholic Church.  The campus includes three (3) church facilities and the school campus for Shakopee Area Catholic School (SACS) and 3 cemeteries. SACS was established in 1970 as a consolidation of the three Catholic Parishes of Shakopee. In 2014, Shakopee Area Catholic School officially became the parish school of Saints Joachim and Anne of Shakopee. SACS is a school of about 600 students in grades PreK to 8 with nearly 100 caring staff members.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED Required.
  • Ability to plan, organize and meet deadlines.
  • Establish and maintain a classroom climate that is conducive to learning.
  • Utilize technology and current research in instruction.
  • Follow standards and use selected school wide curriculum, supplementing when necessary.
  • Monitor student progress regularly and adjust instruction/resources accordingly.
  • Demonstrate understanding and acceptance of the Catholic doctrine.
