Description

The Development Assistant supports and coordinates the various fundraising efforts of the long-range capital campaign for the Cathedral of Saint Paul.  This critical role directly assists the Rector with administrative, operational, structural, and donor engagement guidance to ensure successful execution of fundraising benchmarks and goals.

 Responsibilities:
Campaign & Major Gift Support

  • Interpreting donor input and advancing discussions to higher levels of engagement.
  • Assist the Rector in executing the sequential phases required of the campaign with particular emphasis on cultivation and engagement.
  • Manage campaign tracking tools, interpret data, and generate informational reports.
  • Assist with donor communications including acknowledgments, responses, and gratitude acknowledgements.
  • Coordinate logistics for campaign meetings and events.
  • Prepare materials and reports for the Rector and affiliated leadership.
  • Ensure accuracy of donor data.

Annual Campaign Giving & Fundraising Operations

  • Support and coordinate donor engagement and giving strategies, as outlined by the Rector.
  • Organize annual giving campaigns and goals including scheduled appeals and online options.
  • Assist with targeted giving efforts by way of print and electronic media.
  • Process gifts and pledges accurately to designated fund accounts.
  • Inform Rector of all donor activity as necessary for acknowledgements.
  • Coordinate efforts with finance and accounting to ensure integrity for audits.
  • Trending and forecasting.
  • Monitor donor participation, distill data, generate meaningful intelligence, and prepare reports.
  • Prepare and present a monthly summary of relevant activities and follow-up action.

Donor Stewardship & Engagement

  • Cultivate and coordinate campaign stewardship activities as directed by the Rector.
  • Manage and maintain donor lists and gratitude acknowledgments.
  • Respond to donor inquiries and report necessary information to facilitate appropriate next steps.
  • Organize event planning and facilitate as required.

 Administrative & Data Management

  • Maintain electronic CRM records and coordinate as necessary or required with Cathedral of Saint Paul not-for-profit partners.
  • Generate reports that compile raw data into structured, readable documents.
  • Manage calendars, schedules, and deadlines.
  • Provide administrative support as requested.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • 1–3 years relevant experience.
  • CRM experience, which means, leveraging data and technology to make every customer interaction feel personal, seamless, and empathetic.
  • Microsoft Office and selected statistical software.
  • Ability to extract information from databases, format into summaries, charts, or tables, and present findings in a way that helps the Rector analyze results to make informed decisions.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Personality traits geared towards relationship-building, collaboration, resiliency, and perseverance.
  • Deeply intuitive, passionate about the cause, and great at one-on-one conversations.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and pivot effectively when directed.
  • Discretion with confidential information.

Preferred Skills:

  • Distinct interest in nonprofit fundraising.
  • Campaign or annual fund raising experience a plus.
  • Ability to craft and articulate a compelling case for support.
  • Translating complex organizational missions into emotional, relatable narratives that inspire donors to take action.
