Position Summary

Benilde-St. Margaret’s is seeking a Head Nordic Ski Coach to lead its cooperative program with DeLaSalle High School.

We are looking for a coach who can develop skiers of all experience levels, build a welcoming team culture, and pursue competitive excellence while keeping student-athlete growth at the center of the program.

Core Leadership Expectations

The head coach will set a positive, inclusive tone for both schools’ athletes; communicate clearly with families and school leadership; and create a program in which every skier feels valued and challenged. The coach will also lead and support the assistant coaching staff, with an emphasis on consistency and a smooth transition into the upcoming season.

Essential Responsibilities

● Plan and lead practices, competitions, and athlete development throughout the season.
● Teach sound skiing technique, conditioning, race strategy, and safe training habits.
● Coordinate schedules, transportation needs, equipment, and meet logistics with the BSM Athletics & Activities Department and DeLaSalle.
● Recruit, supervise, and develop assistant coaches in collaboration with BSM.
● Communicate proactively with athletes and families, including schedule updates through BSM’s designated platform.
● Maintain program equipment and provide an accurate inventory.
● Uphold BSM’s standards for sportsmanship, student well-being, and MSHSL compliance.

Qualifications

Required: Experience coaching or competing in Nordic skiing; strong organizational and communication skills; ability to work effectively with student-athletes at varying skill levels; and a commitment to a safe, supportive team environment.

Preferred: High-school coaching experience, familiarity with Minnesota Nordic skiing competitions and the MSHSL, and experience leading a coaching staff or cooperative program.

The selected candidate must complete all required BSM hiring, background-check, Safe Environment, and coaching requirements before working with student-athletes.

Season & Time Commitment

The position requires availability for after-school practices, meets, and other program responsibilities throughout the winter season, along with preseason planning and coordination with both schools.
