Description

St. Stephen’s Catholic Community exists to seek, love, and serve Jesus Christ. In support of this mission, the Hispanic Ministry Coordinator plays a vital role in strengthening parish life by providing administrative support, sacramental processes, and community engagement for the Hispanic community.

This position provides direct support to the Pastor and Associate Pastor for Hispanic Ministry, encourages the parish’s multicultural ministry, and fosters collaboration between English- and Spanish-speaking communities.

Administrative & Liturgical Support

  • Provide administrative support for liturgy, worship, and bilingual services and events, including sacramental processes for the Hispanic community.
  • Translate worship guides, bulletins, announcements, and other materials to ensure clear and timely bilingual communication.
  • Manage sacramental record requests and baptismal parish notifications, prepare sacramental certificates, and ensure precise sacramental recordkeeping in coordination with the Faith for Life Assistant.

Community & Pastoral Ministries

  • Be present at Hispanic liturgical celebrations.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for inquiries for, but not limited to: baptisms, quinceañeras, weddings, funerals, OCIA, formation, new parishioner registration, and other community needs.
  • Recruit, coordinate, lead, train, and act as liaison for Hispanic lay leadership and ministry volunteers.
  • Support adult catechesis in Spanish as needed.
  • Facilitate initiatives that integrate English and Hispanic communities and promote a welcoming environment.
  • Assist with community‑building events and serve as staff liaison for major celebrations (e.g., Our Lady of Guadalupe, Las Posadas, quinceañeras, baptisms, weddings, prayer events, etc.).

Faith Formation & Youth Engagement

  • Work with the Faith for Life Director to support bilingual catechetical communication and formation with Spanish‑speaking parents about expectations, attendance, schedules, costs, etc.
  • Translate into Spanish parish formation and materials as needed.
  • Collaborate with Faith for Life and Youth Ministry staff to promote participation across all St. Stephen’s ministries.
  • Assist in planning young adult ministry initiatives and events.

Archdiocesan & Compliance Coordination

  • Maintain compliance with PCYI requirements for Hispanic ministry volunteers which includes Essential 3 training, background checks, and required video courses.
  • Serve as liaison with Archdiocesan Latino ministry initiatives and events.

Qualifications

  • Fully bilingual in English and Spanish with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Skilled in translation of liturgical, formation, and parish communication materials.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), email, and general computer applications.
  • Understanding of, or willingness to learn, the Catholic Mass, liturgical elements, Catechesis, and Church teachings.
  • Knowledge of Latino culture, traditions, and liturgical practices.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to work with staff, parents, volunteers, and parishioners.
  • Multitask effectively with close attention to detail, following guidance, taking direction, and leading when needed.
  • Flexible schedule, including some evenings and liturgical weekends.
