Job Summary:

The 2nd Grade Teacher at Immaculate Conception Catholic School is responsible for creating an engaging, faith-centered learning environment that lays the foundation for students' academic, spiritual, and social development. Working within our vibrant faith community, the teacher will deliver comprehensive instruction aligned with school curriculum, Catholic values, and diocesan standards. This position plays a crucial role in supporting our mission of academic excellence while nurturing young learners in their faith journey.   • Create and deliver engaging, faith-integrated lessons that support both academic excellence and Catholic values while meeting state educational standards and diocesan curriculum requirements
  • Foster a welcoming, inclusive classroom environment that celebrates diversity and helps young learners develop foundational academic, social, and spiritual skills
  • Partner with families through regular communication, conferences, and updates to support student growth and build a strong school-home connection
  • Assess and document student progress through developmentally appropriate methods, adjusting instruction to meet individual learning needs
  • Plan and lead daily prayer, religious activities, and faith-based discussions that help students understand and embrace Catholic teachings in age-appropriate ways
  • Collaborate with fellow teachers, support staff, and administration to ensure consistent educational approaches and maintain a positive school culture
  • Participate actively in professional development opportunities and contribute to the school's mission of academic excellence in an urban, faith-filled environment

Salary Range: $38,000 - $78,000 annually

Starting salary is determined by the candidate's teaching experience and education level

Ascension Catholic Academy follows a structured step-and-lane salary schedule similar to public school. The final compensation package will be based on verified teaching experience and educational credentials.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Education or related field
  • Successful completion of background check
  • Knowledge of and commitment to Catholic School Mission and Philosophy
  • Demonstrated classroom management and age-appropriate teaching skills
  • Ability to differentiate instruction and create learning objectives for diverse learners
  • Proficiency in educational technology and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong communication and collaborative skills with faculty, parents, and administrators
  •  Physical ability to lift up to 30 pounds and navigate school environment
  • Active participation in faculty meetings and professional development opportunities
  • Ability to maintain student confidentiality and demonstrate professional integrity
  • Dedication to professional growth and emerging educational practices
  •  Experience developing and implementing engaging lesson plans
  •  Commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment

Physical Requirements:

  •  Ability to work a full-time schedule of 40+ hours per week, including attendance at required school events (graduation, holiday programs, and other activities as determined by administration)
  •  Sustained mobility to move throughout classroom and school environments for extended periods
  •  Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and perform physical tasks required in an educational setting
  • Full sensory capabilities including ability to speak clearly, see, hear, and respond effectively to students, staff, and administrators at all times
  • Ability to fulfill all commitments of the educational program throughout the school year
