Elementary Guide (Lower or Upper Elementary)

St. Monica’s Montessori (SMM) in Fargo, ND is seeking a Montessori Elementary Guide (Lower or Upper Elementary) for the 2026–2027 academic year. This is a full-time position for a mission-driven educator who desires to form children academically, spiritually, and personally within a Catholic Montessori environment.

Position Summary
The Elementary Guide leads a multi-age classroom (Lower or Upper Elementary), fostering independence, curiosity, and virtue in accordance with the Montessori method and Catholic teaching. This individual plays a key role in building a joyful, ordered, and faith-filled classroom community.

Key Responsibilities
● Lead a Montessori Elementary classroom (Lower or Upper) with fidelity to then Montessori method
● Prepare and maintain a beautiful, ordered, and developmentally appropriate environment
● Implement the established Montessori scope and sequence of St. Monica’s Montessori, guiding each child toward growth in knowledge, independence, and virtue according to their development.
● Integrate Catholic faith and Catechesis of the Good Shepherd into the life of the classroom
● Collaborate with assistants, catechists, and volunteers
● Maintain strong, respectful communication with parents

Assessment, Communication & Community Engagement
● Record weekly student progress in Montessori Compass
● Prepare and deliver end-of-semester student progress reports
● Conduct two goal-setting conferences with parents each year
● Lead at least one Parent Education & Formation (“PEP”) Night annually
● Participate in and support parent education events, including community potlucks
● Attend the Catholic Montessori Conference at the University of Mary

Additional Responsibilities
● Lead classroom prayer and participate in daily Scripture reflection
● Supervise students throughout the school day, including transitions and dismissal
● Participate in school events and community life, including those outside regular hours
● Engage in ongoing professional and spiritual development
● Support the broader needs of the school as they arise

● Practicing Catholic or willing to fully support the mission of the school
● Montessori certification (AMI/AMS) or willingness to obtain
● Bachelor’s degree required
● Holds a North Dakota teaching license or is willing to work toward obtaining one
● Experience in a Montessori classroom preferred
● Strong classroom leadership and communication skills
● Deep respect for the development of the whole child
● Ability to pass a background check
