Description
The Director of Evangelization & Faith Formation provides vision, leadership, and strategic direction for the parish's efforts to proclaim the Gospel, form intentional disciples, and foster lifelong growth in the Catholic faith. Working closely with the parish Pastor, staff leadership and ministry leaders, the Director develops and implements a comprehensive plan for evangelization and faith formation that serves parishioners of all ages.
The Director is responsible for leading initiatives in evangelization, catechesis, sacramental preparation, adult faith formation, and leadership development, ensuring that all ministries support the parish's vision and mission.
Responsibilities
Evangelization Leadership
- Develop and implement a comprehensive parish evangelization strategy that reaches practicing Catholics, inactive Catholics, and those seeking faith.
- Foster a culture of hospitality, invitation, and missionary discipleship throughout the parish.
- Create pathways that help individuals move through their faith journey.
- Promote stewardship, service, and missionary outreach.
Faith Formation
- Provide leadership and oversight for the parish's lifelong faith formation programs, including children, youth, adults, and families.
- Direct the planning, implementation, and evaluation of catechetical programs in accordance with the teachings of the Catholic Church.
- Oversee sacramental preparation programs for children and families in collaboration with the parish Pastor and staff leadership.
- Develop and support adult faith formation opportunities, including Bible studies, small groups, retreats, workshops, and seasonal programs.
- Ensure that faith formation efforts encourage ongoing conversion, spiritual growth, and active participation in parish life.
- Recruit, train, and mentor catechists and faith formation volunteers, providing continuing formation and support.
Strategic Planning & Administration
- Partner with the parish Pastor and staff leadership in establishing annual ministry goals.
- Prepare and manage budgets for evangelization and faith formation ministries.
- Develop annual ministry calendars and evaluate program effectiveness using measurable goals and participant feedback.
- Maintain records, reports, and compliance with diocesan policies related to catechetical ministry and sacramental preparation.
Qualifications
- Practicing Catholic
- Passion for evangelization and lifelong faith formation
- Minimum of three years of leadership experience in parish ministry, faith formation, evangelization, or a related field
- Thorough knowledge of Catholic doctrine, catechesis, evangelization, and pastoral ministry
- Excellent leadership, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to recruit, train, and supervise staff and volunteers
- Ability to teach, mentor, and inspire others
- Ability to build relationships across all generations
- Comfortable with technology
