Job Summary:

We are seeking an Afternoon Aide to join our preschool team. Under the supervision of the Lead Preschool Teacher and the Director of Early Childhood Learning, the Afternoon Aide will assist in the classroom, supporting students during activities, and maintaining a safe and organized classroom environment. There are no requirements or qualifications needed for this position, it would be a great position for a high school or college student! This is a part-time position that requires a commitment to creating a nurturing and engaging learning environment that reflects the values of Catholic education.

Responsibilities

  • Support students during lessons, small group activities, and playtime to promote their development
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and engaging classroom environment
    Communicate effectively with the Lead Preschool Teacher, other staff members, and families
  • Use active listening and problem-solving skills to support the needs of students
  • Learn technology skills as required by the position
  • Perform other job-related tasks as deemed necessary and/or assigned by the Lead Preschool Teacher or Principal

Schedule: 2 - 5:30 pm Monday - Friday.

Benefits Overview:

This position is not benefit eligible

Pay Range:  $17 - $20 per hour non-exempt benefit-eligible position.

Starting pay is determined by the candidate's experience and education level

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with young children, either through volunteer work or paid employment
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and engage with families
  • Develop and maintain a positive atmosphere with colleagues
  • Patience, empathy, and a passion for working with young children
  • Active listening and problem-solving skills

 Physical Requirements:

  •  Sustained mobility to move throughout classroom and school environments for extended periods
  •  Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and perform physical tasks required in an educational setting
  • Full sensory capabilities including ability to speak clearly, see, hear, and respond effectively to students, staff, and administrators at all times
  • Ability to fulfill all commitments of the educational program throughout the school year
