Description

We are seeking a part-time Assistant Preschool Teacher to join our preschool team from October 29 - Dec 3. Working under the guidance of the Lead Preschool Teacher the Assistant Preschool Teacher will assist with day-to-day tasks such as preparing lessons, supporting students during activities, and maintaining a safe and organized classroom environment. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with young children. This is a part-time position (20-30 hours week) that requires a commitment to creating a nurturing and engaging learning environment that reflects the values of Catholic education.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Lead Preschool Teacher with preparing and implementing age-appropriate lessons and activities
  • Support students during lessons, small group activities, and playtime to promote their development
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and engaging classroom environment
    Communicate effectively with the Lead Preschool Teacher, other staff members, and families
  • Use active listening and problem-solving skills to support the needs of students
  • Learn technology skills as required by the position
  • Perform other job-related tasks as deemed necessary and/or assigned by the Lead Preschool Teacher or Principal

Qualifications

  • Experience working with young children, either through volunteer work or paid employment
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and engage with families
  • Knowledge of pre-kindergarten educational practices and techniques
  • Patience, empathy, and a passion for working with young children
  • Active listening and problem-solving skills
