Description

Providence Academy seeks a qualified, enthusiastic Woodshop & Industrial Arts teacher for grades 6-12.  At Providence Academy, you will find an excellent and positive work environment, including a supportive, faith-filled, and professional team of colleagues.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver age-appropriate lessons in woodworking, industrial arts, and related technical education subjects.
  • Teach proper operation and safety procedures for hand tools, power tools, woodworking equipment, and shop machinery.
  • Develop and supervise student projects that build practical skills and reinforce course objectives.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and well-equipped shop environment in compliance with school policies and safety regulations.
  • Assess student performance through projects, demonstrations, and participation.
  • Foster creativity, critical thinking, craftsmanship, and problem-solving skills.
  • Monitor and manage student behavior to create a positive learning environment.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, inventory, and equipment maintenance.
  • Collaborate with faculty and administration to support school goals and career and technical education initiatives.
  • Manage shop budgets, materials, supplies, and equipment inventories as assigned.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of woodworking tools, machinery, shop safety practices, and instructional methods.
  • Ability to work effectively with middle and upper school students.
  • Strong support for Catholic teaching and the school’s Catholic mission and focus
  • Holds a B.A./B.S. or higher level degree
  • Communicates effectively with students, parents, staff and administration
  • Has the knowledge and skills necessary to implement educational best practices in instruction and assessment

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Technology, Career and Technical Education, Technology Education, or related field.
  • Minnesota teaching license.
  • Previous teaching or industry experience in woodworking, manufacturing, construction, or skilled trades.
  • Familiarity with CAD, design software, CNC equipment, laser cutters, or other modern fabrication technologies.
