Description

The Liturgy Ministry Coordinator partners with clergy, staff, and volunteers to plan and lead parish liturgies. The coordinator recruits, trains, schedules, and supports liturgical ministers for Sunday Mass, Holy Days of Obligation, and special celebrations. This role cultivates a welcoming, faith-filled environment.

LITURGY AND WORSHIP

  • Prepare materials for Masses (priests’ binders, readings, announcements, Prayers of the Faithful, intentions lectionary markers, worship aids) for  (Sundays, Holy Days of Obligation, feast days, school mass, special occasions, etc.)
  • Ensure that liturgical celebrations are in accord with the prescribed rubrics
  • Attend Masses, as needed to support liturgical ministers and build relationships
  • Support liturgical ministers (sacristans, team leaders, head ushers, altar servers, lectors, and Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion)
  • Provide initial and ongoing training, including annual liturgical minister training  for lectors, altar servers, EMHC, etc.
  • Collaborate with Hispanic Ministry Coordinator in materials for bilingual liturgies
  • Schedule ministers in parish software; maintain accurate records and contact lists
  • Maintain the parish liturgical calendar with clergy and staff
  • Order and maintain inventory for liturgy supplies
  • Verify liturgy-related information for the website and other communication outlets
  • Coordinate seasonal décor and the church environment (lead or team member, as needed)
  • With Pastoral Care and Music Directors, assist with preparing and printing Mass and funeral worship aids
  • Maintain and update ministry handbooks, guides, and reference materials
  • Schedule, lead, and attend liturgy-related meetings as assigned
  • Plan and document Worship Commission meetings

SACRAMENTAL

  • Coordinate with other staff  liturgical set-up and support sacramental celebrations (First Reconciliation, First Eucharist, Baptism, Confirmation, OCIA, etc.), as needed
  • Coordinate marriage preparation (documentation, Fully Engaged, mentor couples, wedding coordinators, scheduling)

Qualifications

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) email, and common computer applications
  • Knowledge of sacristan responsibilities and other liturgical ministries, preferred
  • 3+ years in a church setting, preferred
  • Ministry Scheduler experience, preferred or ability to learn
  • Knowledge of the GIRM and Catholic liturgy/traditions, or ability to learn
