Description

Position Summary:

The person in this position works with the Director in effectively communicating and implementing the good news of God’s plan for Marriage. Works in collaboration with the Director to equip parishes and individuals to live the Catholic vision of marriage and coordinate and strengthen the marriage and NFP ministries of the Archdiocese. Provides large-scale events including Marriage Preparation, Marriage Accompaniment, and NFP Events.

Essential Functions of the Position:

  • Investigates and discerns with the Director how the Archdiocese can best prepare, strengthen, and support marriages in the Archdiocese
  • Oversight of all Marriage Ministry Events in Archdiocese
  • Advise the Director on marriage, NFP, bioethics, and other related issues.
  • Organize, execute, and supervise several mission-focused events by performing tasks including planning, MCing, hiring speakers, promotion, finances, and correspondence. Events include but are not limited to:
    • Marriage mentor workshop
    • Marriage preparation retreats
    • Newly married retreat
    • Natural Family Planning continuing education
  • Speak at events on Church’s teaching on marriage, sexuality, and Natural Family Planning
  • Serve as liaison between Archdiocese and USCCB
  • Facilitate opportunities for married couples to grow in Christian maturity together
  • Facilitate opportunities for married couples to deepen their relationship in Christ
  • Serve as a liaison between Archdiocesan leadership and the lay apostolates and associations
  • Assist priests with information and materials to support their vocation
  • Assist parishes in facilitating married couples to fulfill their mission
  • Communicate regularly with constituents via email and phone
  • Build and maintain relationships with parish and partner organization leaders
  • Create and maintain databases of marriage formation coordinators, retreat coordinators and attendees, and available opportunities throughout the Archdiocese and beyond
  • Organizing and updating list of Natural Family Planning resources in the Archdiocese
  • Provide Public Relations and events for Natural Family Planning Physician and Practitioner training
  • Supervises Hospitality Assistant for the Marriage Preparation at events

Qualifications

Job Requirements (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

  • Must be a practicing Catholic who possesses thorough knowledge of and respect for Catholic Church teachings and has a faithful personal prayer life
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and organize tasks and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Ability to execute large scale events
  • Must have demonstrated excellence in public speaking
  • Must be well-organized and able to prioritize multiple tasks
  • Must have strong relational and pastoral skills
  • Must be self-motivated and passionate about our ministry
  • Ability to find creative solutions to challenging problems
  • Ability to exercise discretion, good judgment and initiative
  • Ability to interact effectively with a variety of demographics
  • Ability to work in collaboration with others
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills with the ability to convey information clearly, concisely and professionally to diverse audiences
  • Must be diplomatic, tactful, and discreet especially when dealing with confidential matters
  • Must be available to work occasional weekends and some evenings
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office

Job Qualifications: (Education and Experience):

  • BA / MA preferred in related field;
  • Seven to ten years of experience in a parish, school, or ministry in areas of marriage, family, youth, evangelization, education or a related field.

 Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Prolonged periods standing while working at events
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
