Description
St. Joseph Catholic Community is seeking a Director of Pastoral Care and Support to lead and grow our parish’s ministries of compassion, presence and accompaniment. Grounded in the healing ministry of Jesus Christ, this role serves parishioners in times of illness, loss and life transitions—ensuring all experience the care and support of the Church.

The Opportunity:
- Accompany parishioners in times of need
- Strengthen a culture of care and belonging
- Lead and grow pastoral care ministries
- Partner with staff and volunteers in shared ministry
Position Details:
- 30–40 hours per week (benefits eligible)
- Compensation commensurate with qualifications and experience
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate outreach to the sick, homebound, hospitalized and those in assisted living or care facilities
- Maintain communication with clergy regarding parishioners in need of pastoral care
- Coordinate the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick
- Provide on-call availability for urgent pastoral needs including illness, death and funeral planning
- Serve as primary contact for funeral planning and coordination
- Provide bereavement outreach and support grieving families
- Recruit, train and support volunteers in pastoral care ministries
- Maintain occasional pastoral presence at weekend liturgies
- Collaborate with parish leadership to strengthen pastoral care ministries
- Maintain records with confidentiality
- Assist with pastoral care budget planning
- Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Degree in Theology, chaplaincy or related field preferred
- Knowledge of pastoral care and Catholic teaching
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff and volunteers
- Parish experience
