Description
Saint Paul’s Outreach (SPO) is looking for a Donor Engagement Officer (DEO) to build and strengthen relationships with current and prospective major donors, inviting them into deeper partnership in the mission of evangelization on college campuses.
The DEO will develop and manage a portfolio of donors, cultivating meaningful relationships through personal outreach, storytelling, and strategic engagement. This role will focus on inviting transformational gifts ($5,000+) while accompanying donors in their faith and aligning their generosity with the impact of SPO’s mission. Additionally, the DEO will collaborate with the National Advancement Team to grow donor pipelines, host engagement events, and expand planned giving efforts.

Responsibilities
Major Donor Engagement
- Build, manage, and steward a portfolio of major donors and prospects
- Cultivate relationships through consistent, personal outreach (meetings, calls, events)
- Invite donors to partner with SPO through transformational gifts ($5,000+)
- Communicate the mission through compelling storytelling and clear vision casting
- Develop and execute individualized donor engagement and stewardship plans
Pipeline & Strategy Development
- Identify and qualify new major donor prospects
- Conduct discovery meetings and expand the donor pipeline
- Track engagement and activity metrics to ensure consistent growth and follow-through
- Collaborate with leadership to align donor strategy with national priorities
Planned Giving
- Introduce and integrate planned giving conversations into donor relationships
- Partner with the Advancement Team to grow legacy giving participation
- Support communication efforts that promote long-term giving opportunities
Team & Culture
- Contribute to a healthy, mission-driven team culture within the National Advancement Team
- Participate in team meetings, events, and ongoing formation
- Engage in continued growth in fundraising, leadership, and personal discipleship
Performance Expectations
- Meet annual fundraising goals (revenue, pledges, and cash received)
- Complete ~180 in-person or virtual donor visits annually
- Maintain consistent daily outreach, including a minimum of 8–10 meaningful donor touchpoints per day
- Present a regular cadence of donor proposals and invitations to give
- Conduct at least 15–20 discovery meetings per quarter to grow the donor pipeline
- Retain and grow existing donor relationships year over year
- Accurately track all donor activity and engagement in the CRM
Qualifications
Required
- Practicing Catholic in good standing, committed to living out the mission and values of SPO
- Passion for evangelization and inviting others into mission through generosity
- Strong relational skills with the ability to build trust and long-term partnerships
- Excellent communication skills, especially in storytelling and vision casting
- High level of organization, initiative, and follow-through
- Ability to manage multiple relationships and priorities effectively
Preferred
- 3–5 years of experience in fundraising, sales, or relationship-based work
- Proven ability to ask for and close significant financial gifts or commitments
- Experience working with donor databases or CRM systems (e.g., Raiser’s Edge)
- Background in ministry or familiarity with SPO’s mission and culture
