Preschool Teacher Aide

Do you really enjoy helping to form young children in faith and the love of Jesus in a preschool setting?  Would you enjoy helping our youngest children develop social skills, independence, and confidence through hands-on learning experiences?

The Church of the Guardian Angels is seeking a caring and dependable Preschool Aide to support the day-to-day classroom operations in a warm, faith-filled, and developmentally appropriate environment. The Preschool Aide will work under the direction of the Lead and Assistant Teachers to help foster a safe, engaging, and nurturing space for our youngest learners.

This position supports the Catholic mission of The Church of the Guardian Angels and reports directly to Father Tony VanderLoop, Pastor.

Compensation

Our pay and benefits will be competitive with other Catholic preschools in the archdiocese.  As a part-time position, the pay range for this position is $17.00 - $19.00 per hour.

We will offer a benefits that are available for all of our part-time employees, plus a tuition discount of 50% for children and 25% for grandchildren.

Key Responsibilities

Classroom Support

• Assist with classroom routines, including arrival, snack time, playtime, restroom breaks, and dismissal.
• Support teachers in maintaining a clean, safe, and organized classroom environment.
• Help set up and clean up materials for learning activities and faith-based celebrations.
• Supervise and interact positively with children during both structured activities and free play.

Faith & Mission Integration

• Model kindness, respect, and values consistent with the Catholic faith.
• Support the implementation of daily prayer and faith-centered activities as directed by classroom teachers.

Team Collaboration

• Follow directions from the Lead and Assistant Teachers and support all classroom plans and expectations.
• Communicate respectfully and effectively with coworkers, students, and families.

• Participate in professional development and training as required.

Health, Safety, and Licensing

• Adhere to all MN DHS licensing rules for aides in child care centers.
• Maintain proper child supervision and safety standards at all times.
• Support sanitization procedures and emergency response protocols as directed.

Required

• Must meet qualifications as an Aide under MN DHS Rule 9503.0034.
• Must have or be willing to complete all required MN DHS training, including:
  • Supervising for safety
  • Child growth and development
  • Pediatric First Aid and CPR
• Ability to follow guidance from teaching staff and maintain a positive attitude.

Preferred

• Previous experience working with young children in a school, parish, or child care setting.
• Interest in or willingness to learn about Catholic teachings and early childhood education.
• Practicing Catholic preferred, or openness to working in a Catholic environment.
