Benefits Eligible: Yes
Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week, includes weekend and evening time as needed. Overtime is only allowed if approved by either direct or indirect supervisor.
Schedule: Five days per week, days will vary based on parish and seasonal needs
Job Purpose: To strive to maintain the Transfiguration campus in a manner that provides a safe and healthy physical environment for staff, students, parishioners and visitors. This includes keeping the building, equipment and grounds clean and in good working order and identifying projects that are necessary to keep the building, equipment and grounds clean and in proper working order. All activities shall support the mission and philosophy of Transfiguration Church of Oakdale, Minnesota:

Representative Responsibilities:
Note: The following responsibilities, 1 through 3, are essential responsibilities.
- Supervision of Custodial Staff and/or Services
- Manage custodial staff and/or services in the daily performance of their work, and to meet the needs of staff and parishioners of Transfiguration. This includes scheduling and monitoring performance. Address performance concerns as needed in collaboration with the Pastor or Business Administrator.
- Campus Care and Management
- Perform the duties necessary to keep the grounds, buildings, systems and equipment at their original condition of completeness and efficiency through repairs (both preventative and as needed) or replacement.
- Collaborate with the relevant staff members to follow parish policy and obtain the necessary approvals for projects.
- Oversee annual inspections of all facilities and complete required inspection repairs in the time requested.
- Identify seasonal projects to keep the facility clean, safe, and updated.
- Maintain positive working relationships with vendors and assist the finance staff in assuring that paperwork is properly completed and invoices are submitted and paid in a timely manner.
- In collaboration with the Pastor and Business Administrator, hire and manage vendors for additional services such as snowplowing, preventative maintenance, and care of the grounds.
- General Duties
- Plan for and assist with set-up and take-down of furniture for funerals, church and school functions, meetings, and special events.
- Responsible for snow removal to ensure safe sidewalks and entryways for Mass, school and other scheduled events. This includes working with the contractor and volunteers to make sure the parking lot is clear and free of snow and ice and scheduling volunteers and/or staff to assist.
- Provide input to the Business Administrator for the preparation of the annual budget in the areas of building repair and maintenance.
- Work with volunteers in order to utilize their expertise and defer costs from the budget.
- Other Responsibilities: includes other responsibilities assigned or identified as needed by the employee and approved by Pastor or Business Administrator.

Qualifications
Qualifications
- Demonstrated skills in the area of building management and repairs, along with interest in working as a custodian, experience in building management preferred.
- Possess and maintain a valid and appropriate boiler license, or a willingness to obtain one.
- Knowledge or experience of basic electrical, carpentry, and plumbing skills.
- Demonstrate an understanding and acceptance of Catholic doctrine, along with a commitment to the mission of Transfiguration.
- Ability to work independently to accomplish tasks in a timely manner, but willing to collaborate and seek direction as needed.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment physical.
- Successfully complete the Essential 3 requirements – Virtus training, background check, and Code of Conduct.
- Ability to communicate positively with Transfiguration leadership, administration, parishioners and the broader community.
- Ability to work in a team as a member of the Transfiguration staff and actively promote the mission of the parish and school.
Mental Demands
- Knowledge of safe use of cleaning materials and chemicals, and the ability to safely operate cleaning machines.
- Possess a clear understanding of the English language. Able to speak and write effectively.
- Ability to follow all guidelines of the Transfiguration Employee Handbook.
Physical Demands
- Work at least 40 hours per week.
- Able to lift heavy objects of 50 lbs. or more using proper techniques.
- Able to use appropriate and safe techniques in lifting, pushing, pulling and other motions as required.
- Able to climb ladders or other climbing apparatus and walk up and down stairs.
- Dexterity to reach, bend, twist, crouch, stoop, and crawl, all while maintaining good balance.
- Able to withstand winter cold and summer heat.
