Description

Primary Objectives:   Provide custodial activity for all parish buildings and grounds with flexibility, courtesy and efficiency. Be a living example of our parish mission to “live and share Christ’s call to holiness”.

Major Areas of Responsibility:

    • Cleaning - Basic daily cleaning for multiple buildings with routine floor waxing
    • Seasonal Grounds: Spring and fall lawn care leaf removal, summer lawn care, winter shoveling 
    • Work orders – Keep track of work being done and help control time spent
    • Special attention items - Includes set up and take down of events according to availability  
    • Emergency responses - Snow removal, heating and cooling issues, etc.
    • Daily boiler checks - Upon obtainment of a Specialize Boiler License (pursue within the first year of employment)
    • Special Projects: Require specialized skill - can assist if extra time is available
    • Oversee work of volunteers according to need
    • Managing keys and key locks – Maintain working order, make, repair and replace as needed
    • Order supplies and restock
    • Visually inspect all areas around campus on a continual basis; includes asbestos online training
    • Quarterly checks on emergency lights and batteries and defibrillators  
    • Vendors –Provide access and assist as needed
    • Weekly Touchbase – Be available for weekly connection and communication with supervisor
    • Additional Duties as assigned by leadership

Qualifications

  • Two years’ experience in a maintenance / custodial position preferred but not required
  • Experience working on & around heating and mechanical systems preferred 
  • Special Boiler license or ability to get this license 6-12 months of starting employment
  • Creative handyman skills with willingness to learn and adapt to changing demands
  • Self-motivated worker
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Collaborative spirit
