About the Opportunity

St Joseph Catholic Community is seeking a Parish Director to serve as the senior operational leader of our parish during a pivotal and hope filled season of growth, renewal, and transition as the long-term Parish Director prepares for retirement. He will be a valuable asset to a new Director by remaining a valuable resource as needed!

This role is not about simply keeping the lights on. It is about bringing clarity, strengthening trust, building systems that work, and supporting a vibrant parish and school community that deeply loves its mission.

St Joseph is a large and complex parish with a thriving school, expanding preschool, active ministries, and devoted staff and volunteers. Like many parishes, growth has outpaced systems, but staff care deeply, work hard, and show up heroically for the mission!

The Parish Director will partner closely with the Pastor, the Principal and Trustees to provide that leadership.

Who Are We?

St Joseph Catholic Community exists to help people encounter Christ, grow as disciples, and serve others in love. Our parish and school are filled with committed staff, engaged families, and generous parishioners who want to see St Joseph flourish for generations to come.
We value collaboration, honesty, accountability, and pastoral charity. We are committed to addressing challenges directly and building something stronger together.

Who Are You?

You are a practicing Catholic who understands that leadership in the Church requires both competence and humility.

You are calm under pressure, emotionally intelligent, and comfortable navigating complex human dynamics. You listen well. You speak honestly with charity. You are not afraid of difficult conversations, and you know how to bring people together rather than letting issues linger.

You bring structure without rigidity, clarity without ego, and decisiveness without drama.

You understand that strong systems serve people, not the other way around.

What Will You Do?

As Parish Director, you will serve as the senior day to day operational leader of the parish, with responsibility for administration, finance, facilities, human resources, communications, and stewardship operations.

Key areas of responsibility include:

  • Leadership and Culture
  • Provide visible and engaged leadership across parish operations
  • Establish clear expectations, decision making authority, and accountability
  • Create a professional and respectful work environment where staff feel supported and heard
  • Address conflict directly and constructively
  • Ensure meetings, projects, and initiatives move from discussion to completion

Operations and Systems

  • Build and maintain systems that do not rely on individual heroics
  • Clarify ownership of workflows, projects, and processes
  • Improve communication and coordination across parish and school operations
  • Introduce practical project management and follow through

Finance and Stewardship

  • Lead budgeting, financial oversight, and reporting in collaboration with the Pastor and Finance Council
  • Ensure transparency, trust, and sound internal controls
  • Support stewardship and development efforts aligned with mission

Facilities and Property

  • Oversee facilities, maintenance, and capital planning
  • Ensure preventive maintenance, safety, and timely resolution of issues
  • Provide clarity around priorities, timelines, and responsibility

Human Resources and Staff Support

  • Supervise and support direct reports
  • Clarify roles, job expectations, and performance standards
  • Support hiring, onboarding, compliance, and staff development
  • Help staff focus on the work they were hired to do

Partnership with Pastor and Trustees

  • Operate with delegated authority while keeping the Pastor informed
  • Support Trustees with clear reporting and execution support
  • Serve as a bridge between pastoral vision and operational reality

Why This Role Matters

This is an opportunity to make a real difference in a parish that wants to grow healthier and stronger.

You will not be walking into a broken community. You will be joining a committed one that is ready for clarity, leadership, and renewal.

If you are energized by building trust, strengthening systems, and helping people do their best work in service of the Church, this role may be a strong fit.

Compensation

Salary range is $95,000 to $110,000 annually, dependent on experience, with benefits.

Qualifications

  • Active practicing Roman Catholic in good standing
  • Bachelor degree required
  • Minimum five years of senior leadership experience in parish, nonprofit, or mission driven organizations
  • Demonstrated experience in operations, finance, facilities, and people management
  • Strong emotional intelligence and communication skills
  • Proven ability to lead through complexity and change
  • Ability to remain steady, charitable, and decisive under pressure
