St. Stephen’s Catholic School – PreK through 8th Grade

St. Stephen’s Catholic School is a vibrant, Christ-centered PreK–8th grade community dedicated to forming joyful disciples of Jesus Christ. We are seeking a dynamic and faithful Middle School Religion Teacher who will joyfully share the truth of the Catholic faith with students and lead them into a deeper relationship with Christ through prayer, study, service, and sacramental life.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach Religion Classes (Grades 6–8) using the Spirit of Truth curriculum with fidelity, creativity, and clarity.
- Collaborate with Parish Clergy to ensure a strong priestly presence in the classroom and to schedule:
- Middle School Retreats (3 in fall, 2–3 in spring)
- Fall and Spring Confessions for the entire school with associate pastors
- “Go Ask Your Father” sessions for elementary staff (once per semester)
- Lead and Organize the 8th Grade Holy Thursday Faith Event, guiding students in a powerful experience of the Triduum.
- Coordinate Weekly Student Lectors for school Mass (working from a yearly schedule; students assigned weekly).
- Oversee Confirmation Preparation for 8th graders:
- Ensure all parish and diocesan requirements are met
- Communicate and collaborate with the Parish Confirmation Coordinator
- Supervise the NET Ministry Day-Long Retreat experience for middle school students.
- Track and Support Student Service Hours for Grades 6–8.
- Plan and Lead Morning Advisory, in collaboration with the middle school team.
- Pair Students for the Disciples & Friends (Buddies) Program, scheduling regular interaction with elementary classrooms.
Qualifications
- Practicing Catholic in full communion with the Church
- Passion for evangelization and the formation of young people in the faith
- Bachelor's Degree in Theology, Religious Education, or related field (Master’s preferred)
- Teaching experience in Catholic schools or parish ministry strongly preferred
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to collaborate joyfully with faculty, staff, and clergy
