Description

The Liturgy Ministry Coordinator partners with clergy, staff, and volunteers to plan and lead parish liturgies. The coordinator recruits, trains, schedules, and supports liturgical ministers for Sunday Mass and special celebrations. This role cultivates a welcoming, faith-filled environment.

LITURGY AND WORSHIP

  • Prepare and materials (priests’ binders, readings, announcements, Prayers of the Faithful, intentions, lectionary markers, worship aids) for Masses, and feast days.
  • Collaborate with Hispanic Ministry Coordinator for bilingual materials.
  • Attend Masses, as needed to support volunteers and build relationships.
  • Support liturgical volunteers (sacristans, team leaders, head ushers, altar servers, lectors, and Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion).
  • Schedule ministers in parish software; maintain accurate records and contact lists.
  • Provide initial and ongoing training, including annual EMHC commissioning training.
  • Maintain the parish liturgical calendar with clergy and staff.
  • Order and inventory liturgical supplies.
  • Verify liturgy-related information for the website and other communications.
  • Coordinate seasonal décor and the church environment (lead or team member, as needed).
  • With Pastoral Care and Music Directors, assist with funeral worship aids.
  • Maintain and update ministry handbooks, guides, and reference materials.
  • Attend liturgy-related meetings as assigned.
  • Plan and document quarterly Worship Commission meetings.

SACRAMENTAL

  • Coordinate liturgical set-up and support for sacramental celebrations (First Reconciliation, First Eucharist, Baptism), as needed.
  • Coordinate marriage preparation (documentation, Fully Engaged, mentor couples, wedding coordinators, scheduling).

Qualifications

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), email, and common computer applications.
  • Knowledge of sacristan responsibilities (preferred).
  • 3+ years in a church setting (preferred).
  • Ministry Scheduler experience (preferred).
  • Knowledge of the GIRM and Catholic liturgy/traditions, or ability to learn.
