Description

This is a new position with flexibility in title, duties and hours for the right candidate.

LITURGICAL DUTIES:

  • Prepare all Sunday and Holy Day and supplemental liturgies.
  • Schedule all liturgical ministers; sacristans, lectors, EME’s, ushers and servers.
  • Receive Cantor announcements from Communications Coordinator and place on cantor stand when liturgy assistant isn’t available.
  • Receive prayer of the faithful from Communication Coordinator and print and place in lector binder when liturgy assistant isn’t available.
  • Receive second collection announcements each month from Communications Coordinator and place in lector binder when the liturgy assistant isn’t available.
  • Receive Hymn sheets from Communications Coordinator, print on liturgical colored paper or white and place at three main entrances of the church when liturgy assistant isn’t available.
  • Confirm the cantors have announcements, prayer card for before Mass, music schedule and copy of the Mass setting when liturgy assistant isn’t available.
  • Prepare the lector binder for weekend Masses and leave the binder on the counter in the sacristy when liturgy assistant isn’t available.
  • Prepare the Book of the Gospels and Lectionary with the readings for the weekend when the liturgy assistant isn’t available.
  • Plan wedding liturgies.
  • Consult on funeral liturgy questions as needed.
  • Schedule substitute clergy and missionaries when requested.
  • Train and develop all liturgical ministers i.e. sacristans, lectors, EME’s, ushers and servers.
  • Maintain and order hosts, candles, altar wine, incense and baptismal gowns with liturgy assistant.

 

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in catholic studies, religious, liturgy or related field

Experience in preparing liturgies in the Catholic Church

Demonstrated knowledge of Catholic liturgy and Archdiocesan policies

Pass Archdiocesan background checks and complete VIRTUS

Proficiently operate a computer, printer and other office equipment

Enthusiastic leader with a positive attitude
