Description
This full-time teaching position for 2025-26 and beyond will be part of a collaborative team committed to achieving the goals of education through faith-filled learning experiences. The teacher for this position offers a warm and dynamic learning environment focused on excellence in academics, and partners with parents, staff, and other volunteers to create a loving community that reflects the values of our Catholic faith.
Immaculate Conception School is a preschool-grade 8 school serving students in Columbia Heights and the surrounding communities. We are celebrating our 87th year with a focus on Faith, Academics and Service. We have a tradition of high academic excellence and a commitment to share our school’s mission by reaching out in service to the community.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and teach engaging lessons in core subjects (Mathematics, Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies) that follow diocesan guidelines and grade-level standards while weaving in Catholic values
- Foster a welcoming, inclusive classroom environment that celebrates diversity and helps young learners develop foundational academic, social, and spiritual skills
- Partner with families through regular communication, conferences, and updates to support student growth and build a strong school-home connection
- Assess and document student progress through developmentally appropriate methods, adjusting instruction to meet individual learning needs
- Plan and lead daily prayer, religious activities, and faith-based discussions that help students understand and embrace Catholic teachings in age-appropriate ways
- Collaborate with fellow teachers, support staff, and administration to ensure consistent educational approaches and maintain a positive school culture
- Participate actively in professional development opportunities, faculty meetings, and learning teams

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Education or related field
- Successful completion of background check
- Knowledge of and commitment to Catholic School Mission and Philosophy
- Demonstrated classroom management and age-appropriate teaching skills
- Ability to differentiate instruction and create learning objectives for diverse learners
- Proficiency in educational technology and Google Office Suite
- Strong communication and collaborative skills with faculty, parents, and administrators
- Active participation in faculty meetings and professional development opportunities
- Ability to maintain student confidentiality and demonstrate professional integrity
- Dedication to professional growth and emerging educational practices
- Experience developing and implementing engaging lesson plans
- Commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work a full-time schedule of 40+ hours per week, including attendance at required school events (graduation, holiday programs, and other activities as determined by administration)
- Able to attend school-related activities outside of traditional school hours, such as graduation, holiday programs, family events and any other programs deemed necessary by the principal and/or assistant principal
- Sustained mobility to move throughout classroom and school environments for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and perform physical tasks required in an educational setting
- Full sensory capabilities including ability to speak clearly, see, hear, and respond effectively to students, staff, and administrators at all times
- Ability to fulfill all commitments of the educational program throughout the school year
