Description

The Church of the Annunciation is looking for an individual for our music and liturgy program.
A Director of Music and Liturgy (full or part-time) with program leadership responsibility, working with an associate director of music and liturgy, professional section leaders, and several talented volunteer musicians. This individual will have demonstrated experience with:
 Planning Catholic liturgy and music and producing needed worship aids
 Serving as cantor and/or accompanist (piano & organ)
 Working with youth and adult choirs

This person could serve as either a choral conductor or accompanist for the adult choir. Our associate director has versatility as both a conductor and organist. This person would need to be a welcoming, joy-filled minister of liturgy and music for our community.

Community & Role Details
The Church of Annunciation is a dynamic, multi-generational Roman Catholic church with a strong sense of community in the Tangletown neighborhood of South Minneapolis. The church has a talented choir which performs repertoire from ancient chant to contemporary styles. We sing works by Vaugh Williams, Harris, Tallis, Pergolesi, Renee Clausen, Holst, Faure, Mendelssohn, as well as Rutter, Gjeilo, Joncas, Haugen, Farrell, and many other great composers of the past and present.

This individual will bring talents to enhance our community prayer through the gift of music. As a minister of music, you will be an essential part of our community who will connect with parishioners through music, prayer, and community. You will have a focus on delivering high-quality liturgies for weekends, feast days, funerals, and weddings. There will be other liturgical duties, including environment, ordering liturgical supplies, and other tasks as assigned.
We have recently transitioned to the Gather 4 Hymnal. We utilize organ (75%) and piano (25%) during liturgies. Proficiency in either piano or organ is preferred. We have a 30-rank 1962 Wicks pipe organ with a 4 manual Rodger’s console. Vocal skills will be required for cantoring and leading worship, but we do have willing cantors to utilize as needed.

This role could possibly include leading a youth choir with Annunciation School children, which would require leading a weekly rehearsal and incorporating the youth choir during occasional weekend masses and concerts.

We are open to this role being full time or part time – dependent upon the right candidate. Music is
highly valued by our community, and the right candidate will have a strong desire to be a part of our community, connect with parishioners, and contribute to our long-term community success.

Qualifications

Qualifications

contemporary music for youth masses

 Ability to connect with both professional and volunteer musicians, and an ability to continue to grow
our music programs
 Ability to connect with parishioners and staff, develop relationships, and contribute to a warm,
inviting environment at our parish
 Successfully completed background check and VIRTUS training
