Description

Saint Rose of Lima is seeking a passionate and effective catechist to continue the mission to evangelize and catechize our parish community.

The Director of Evangelization and Catechesis implements the parish pastoral plan of calling and forming missionary disciples. The Director supervises Faith Formation staff and works in close collaboration with all staff in order to evangelize Saint Rose of Lima’s parishioners, to evangelize our local community, and to provide catechesis at all age levels.

I. ADULT EVANGELIZATION AND CATECHESIS
1. Coordinate the parish’s ongoing adult discipleship immersion with Parish Events/retreats in partnership with the Pastor, staff, and parish leaders.

2. Coordinate Small Groups with consistent communication and support of all group leaders, training of new leaders, and encouraging small group participation across the whole parish community.

2. Coordinate Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA) in collaboration with volunteers.

3. Actively participate in parish efforts to implement Synod priorities.

II. CHILDREN – GRADES 2 TO 8
1. Coordinate parish catechetical programs for young children, with emphases on family formation, discipleship, and prayer.

2. Partner with parents/guardians regarding program goals and content, calendar dates, involvement opportunities, expectations and family enrichment resources.

3. Aid in the orientation, preparation, collection of resource materials and ongoing enrichment of catechists and volunteers.

4. Organize Family Ministry events to integrate school and neighborhood families into the parish community.

5. Maintain an active presence in Saint Rose School to build relationships with students, parents, and faculty through campus ministry in collaboration with the Youth Minister.

III. SACRAMENTAL PREPARATION FOR FIRST RECONCILIATION AND FIRST EUCHARIST

1. Oversee the sacramental preparation for children of all ages in collaboration with sacramental catechists.

2. Organize effective curriculum resources for Sacramental Preparation for parish catechetical programs and for Saint Rose of Lima Catholic School.

3. Develop and implement family workshops as immediate preparation for the celebration of Reconciliation and Eucharist.

4. Assist in planning and participating in the First Reconciliation and First Eucharist liturgical celebrations.

IV. SUPERVISION OF CATECHETICAL TEAM AND PROGRAMS
1. Integrate all catechetical programs into a united whole whose components complement and assist one another in the mission of teaching Catholic doctrine, building community,
and service.

2. Work supportively and collaboratively with parishioners, parish staff, and faculty, especially through full participation in communication efforts, staff meetings, committee
meetings, and various special events.

3. Provide developmental opportunities for the staff to enhance their ministry performance, job skills, and theological knowledge.

4. Monitor and enforce compliance of Faith Formation staff and volunteers with all Archdiocesan Safe Environment policies.

5. Provide direction for and supervise the Faith Formation Team. This includes the Early Child Coordinator, Confirmation Coordinator/Youth Minister, and the Faith Formation Administrative Assistant.

6. Be present as scheduled and ready to work as needed to meet responsibilities. Includes:
recognizing when situations require more effort, satisfying responsibilities in a timely manner, providing an example of punctuality and attendance, and generally ensuring all
departmental work is completed.

7. Help create a productive environment where there is harmony, good morale, and cooperative teamwork; monitor self/productivity and take corrective action as
appropriate.

8. Attend and actively participate in key activities and events of the parish related to evangelization and catechesis. Activities and events will be highlighted by the Pastor at
the beginning of the program year.

9. Additional tasks identified by the supervisor.

Qualifications

• Minimum BA in Theology, Catechetics, Catholic Studies, or similar preferred.
• Faith Formation experience in a parish setting required.
• Team Management experience required.
• Possess general computer skills.
• Possess excellent organization and communication skills.
• Successfully complete the required background checks and VIRTUS training.
• Live a personal lifestyle reflecting Catholic values.
• Work well with others and independently.
• Exhibit promptness, dependability, confidentiality, integrity and honesty.
• Maintaining a positive and helpful attitude at all times; even during difficult times.
