Job Title: Manager of Liturgy
Reports To: Director of Music
Supervises: Funeral and Wedding Coordinators and Liturgical Volunteers
Position: Full-time (Salary: 55-60K)
Position Summary
The Manager of Liturgy serves the Pastor and parish by preparing for and coordinating various parish liturgical celebrations. This role is responsible for providing a reverent, prayerful, and welcoming worship experience that supports the parish mission and vision of forming faithful disciples and stewards who know, follow, and go forth to share Jesus Christ.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Pastor, Music Director, staff, and Liturgical Ministers to serve the parishioners/families of St. Mary of the Lake by planning/coordinating Masses and various parish liturgies according to Catholic Church teaching and the Roman Missal.
- Plan, coordinate, and be present at Sunday Masses (Saturday and/or Sunday), as well as major Feast Days (Solemnities) and Holy Days of Obligation in the liturgical year.
- Recruit, help train, and schedule Liturgical Ministers (i.e., Altar Servers, Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, Greeters, Lectors, Projectionists/Livestream Operators, Sacristans, Ushers, and Wedding Coordinators, etc.).
- Technical proficiency in producing ministry schedules (i.e. weekly-monthly-quarterly) and maintain data using the scheduling tool: Ministry Scheduler Pro.
- Be “point of contact” for the audio-visual workstation, i.e. projection and livestream.
- Supervise Funeral and Wedding Coordinators and assist in planning, preparing, and coordinating various liturgies and sacramental celebrations, i.e. Penance Services.
- Coordinate various liturgies with Frassati Catholic Academy, i.e. School Masses and Penance Services. Collaborate with Faith Formation Staff to help coordinate First Reconciliations and First Holy Communions.
- Ensure the liturgical environment and supplies are properly prepared for each liturgical season and celebration (i.e., Advent, Christmas, Lent, Holy Week, Easter, Ordinary Time, Feast Days, and special parish liturgies). This includes maintaining, ordering, and restocking various church supplies.
- Supervise and collaborate with Weekday and Sunday Sacristans to ensure all safety policies/procedures are followed, including first aid procedures/incident reporting.
- Communicate needs of building/grounds to the Director of Maintenance, as needed.
Qualifications
Qualifications
- A joyfully practicing Roman Catholic in good standing, with a knowledge of and reverence for Catholic liturgy and Church teaching.
- Bachelor’s Degree with a Catholic emphasis in one or more of the fields of study: philosophy, theology, liturgy, religious education, pastoral ministry, or an equivalent of education and/or parish experience.
- Experience in liturgical music a plus but not necessary (i.e., Accompanist-Cantor-Directing Choirs).
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to effectively collaborate with clergy, parish staff, volunteers, and parishioners in a faith-filled and team-oriented environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, parish database systems, and miscellaneous communication platforms preferred.
- Flexibility to work weekends (Saturday/Sunday) with occasional weekday evenings as required by parish liturgical and sacramental schedules.
