Description
St. Odilia School is a joyful, faith-filled Catholic school community serving over 700 students in Preschool through 8th grade. Rooted in our mission to educate the whole child—spiritually, academically, emotionally, socially, and physically—we seek a passionate and skilled K-8 Art Teacher who will inspire students to explore their creativity while nurturing an appreciation for beauty, discipline, and the wonder of God’s creation. This position will be a full-time teaching position, beginning in late August 2025.
Most importantly, we are looking for a K-8 art teacher who is excited to teach elementary and middle school students and bring a joy and love of art to our students. The ideal candidate will integrate traditional and contemporary art techniques, support cross-curricular connections, and foster a love for the visual arts in a supportive and faith-filled environment. This new faculty member will be committed to advancing the mission of St. Odilia School by:
- Providing a safe, loving, nurturing learning environment for our students.
- Fostering an environment in which each child is called into a relationship with Jesus Christ.
- Planning and delivering engaging art instruction to students in grades K–8.
- Providing an environment where students learn to love art and want to continually show effort to improve.
- Introducing students to a variety of media, styles, and artists, while helping them develop both technique and self-expression.
- Celebrating student work through displays, collaborative school projects, and a year-end art show
- Enabling our students to achieve high academic standards through an advanced curriculum.
- Working with our students to develop a character based on personal integrity.
- Participating as a member of our community in workshops, staff development opportunities, and committee responsibilities.
Qualifications
- BA or BS Degree. A current Minnesota Teaching License in the arts is strongly preferred.
- Exhibit competence in instructional methods and knowledge of subject matter being taught.
- Demonstrate evidence of good classroom management techniques.
- Develop and maintain a positive rapport and relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Experience with technology in the classroom, SMARTBoard, iPad, MacBook.
- Ability to communicate effectively and in a timely fashion with school, students, staff, and parents.
- Practicing Catholic preferred.
