Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Meal Preparation, Service, and Cleaning: Plan, prepare, and serve nutritious meals that meet the guidelines of the Free School Meals for Kids Program in partnership with a food vendor using and cleaning reusable food trays.
  • Food Ordering for School Events: Plan, order, serve food for all school functions. For example, Teacher conferences, enrollment events, MS donuts, pizza orders, Graduations, Carnaval, Feast of the Annunciation, etc.
  • Compliance & Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate records of student meal participation, ensuring compliance with the Free School Meals for Kids Program and school policies. Submit monthly counts to the State of Minnesota for reimbursement. Manage family accounts, crediting checks that come in from parents.
  • Inventory & Ordering: Manage food and supply inventory of food, milk, and supplies, place orders, and ensure cost-effective purchasing while minimizing waste.
  • Kitchen Operations & Safety: Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant kitchen in accordance with food safety and sanitation regulations. Maintain all state and local licenses. Responsible for state and local health inspection reports and findings.
  • Student Meal Tracking: Log and manage student meal records to ensure eligibility and participation in the Free School Meals for Kids Program.
  • Team Leadership: Oversee kitchen volunteers and staff, fostering a positive and efficient work environment.

Communication: Collaborate with school administration and meal program vendor on menu planning, budgeting, and student dietary needs. Responsible for communications in The Spirit Weekly regarding the menu and any breakfast or lunch

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in food service, preferably in a school or institutional setting.
  • Knowledge of Free School Meals for Kids Program guidelines (training available if needed).
  • Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Food safety certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Commitment to Annunciation’s mission and values.
