Description

To assist in providing each child and adult with a meal of high nutritious quality in an atmosphere of cleanliness, cheerfulness, and personal caring.  The Assistant Cook works under the direction of the Head Cook and school principal and in accordance with state and federal guidelines, the school/parish mission statement, philosophy, policies, handbooks, and directions established by the principal and/or pastor.  The position includes 5 hours each day, or 15 hours a week.

Qualifications

Food Service – Food Preparation / Food Service:

  1. best practice and guidelines for portion sizes, safe food handling and kitchen practices.
  2. Prepare and cook food according to scheduled menu, in accordance to proper food preparation and serving protocols, under the direction of the Head Cook.
  3. Assist in monitoring food serving and storage to minimize waste.
  4. Attend to special dietary needs of students / staff and maintain confidentiality.
  5. Assist in recording all meals served via electronic systems.
  6. Follow appropriate, proper, safe, and efficient use of all kitchen equipment, including practicing FIFO (First In / First Out).

 

  1. Kitchen Safety and Sanitation Responsibilities to include:
    1. Maintain clean, sanitary and organized kitchen, storage, and lunchroom facilities
    2. Dishwashing:  plates, utensils, pots, pans, etc.
    3. Cleaning lunchroom tables and dry mop/spot wet mop floor in gym.
