Description
Shakopee Area Catholic School is seeking an Art Teacher who is responsible for providing a high-qualify, safe, and engaging classroom environment for students by planning, managing, and implementing research-based curricula to ensure developmentally appropriate instruction. This is a full-time, 40 hours/week position.
Responsibilities:
- Create and maintain a positive classroom environment that supports the academic, social-emotional, and spiritual development of students.
- Oversee learning for all students in your classroom.
- Teach knowledge and skills in art, including drawing, painting, lettering, and art history.
- Provide instruction by which students develop aesthetic concepts and appreciates the ability to make qualitative judgments about art.
- Uphold the mission of SACS.
- Create positive educational climate.
- Manage student behavior in the classroom by invoking approved disciplinary procedures.
- Communicate to parents the student progress. Keeps up with Student Information System grades so that parents/guardians are up to date on student progress. Communicate via internet. Hold parent conferences to discuss individual student’s progress and concerns.
The mission of the Parish of Saints Joachim and Anne is to passionately lead people to Jesus Christ and sacramental life in the Catholic Church. The parish includes three (3) church facilities and the school campus for Shakopee Area Catholic School (SACS) and 3 cemeteries. SACS was established in 1970 as a consolidation of the three Catholic Parishes of Shakopee. In 2013, the three parishes merged, and the school became a parish school of Saints Joachim and Anne (SJA). SJA has nearly 100 caring staff members and there are roughly 600 students in the school.
Qualifications
- Maintain current licensure or be working toward Minnesota teacher certification.
- Ability to plan, organize and meet deadlines.
- Establish and maintain a classroom climate that is conducive to learning.
- Prepare written lesson plans including learning goals, instructional methods and resource materials.
- Utilize technology and current research in instruction.
- Follow standards and use selected school wide curriculum, supplementing when necessary.
- Monitor student progress regularly and adjust instruction/resources accordingly.
- Practicing Catholic preferred, but not required.
The pay range for this position is $40,000-$56,000 based on experience and qualifications. This position offers medical and dental insurance, 403b retirement, paid time off, tuition discount, and other elective benefits as chosen by employee.
