Description
St. Pius X is seeking a dedicated and organized individual for a part-time (20 hours per week) position supporting our parish life department. This role assists the Director of Parish Life with sacramental record keeping, preparation of certificates, and administrative support for parish ministries. The position serves as a primary contact for volunteer-led groups, facilitating scheduling, communication, and alignment with Catholic teaching, while also supporting parish communications and outreach initiatives. Responsibilities include coordinating pastoral care efforts such as ministry to the homebound, bereavement support, and emergency assistance requests, as well as providing occasional support for funeral planning and parish events. This position requires strong organizational skills, pastoral sensitivity, and a commitment to fostering an engaged and faith-filled parish community.
Specific Job Duties Include:
Parish Life Support
- Assist with tasks assigned by Director
- Sacramental Record Keeping and Requests
- Staff contact for groups and ministries run by volunteers based on their personal apostolate
- Assists them in scheduling and marketing
- Ensures their program falls within Catholic teaching.
- Be present at Spirit Sundays to support the outreach to parishioners.
- Provide back up support for funeral planning as necessary.
Pastoral Ministry Coordination
- Coordinate pastoral ministry efforts for the parish. Including coordination of ministries such as homebound Eucharist, communion services, pastoral resources, and bereavement ministry.
- Conduct an initial visit when a homebound ministry request is made.
- Coordinate pastoral outreach opportunities for the parish.
- Evaluate emergency assistance requests and assess the appropriate support or resources needed.
- Provide necessary communication information to the administration team.
Administrative
- Attend all required meetings and All-Staff days, at the discretion of the director of parish life.
- Ensure implementation of all applicable Archdiocesan and parish policies – including ensuring volunteer background checks for those working with vulnerable adults or youth, Virtus education, compliance with the Pastoral Code of Conduct, training for staff and volunteers on mandated reporting laws, computer privacy policies, bodily fluid cleanup procedures, etc.
- Work cooperatively with the parish processes including budgeting, calendaring, employment policies, etc.
- Work cooperatively with other staff members and departments to ensure the effective accomplishment of the mission of the parish.
- Ensure maintenance of orderly files and records for programs
- Arrange for adult assistance with catechesis and for all activities as necessary, complying with the supervision Guidelines offered by the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis.
Qualifications
- College degree preferred with academic study in Catholic theology or equivalent experience or previous experience in parish ministry.
- Ability to relate and communicate effectively with parishioners, Pastor, and other staff members.
- Ability to clearly speak, read, and write English
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Successfully complete an Archdiocesan background check, Virtus, and Code of Conduct.
