Full-Time Theatre Technical Director
The Technical Director has the daily responsibility for the technical operations of the auditorium, including lighting, sound, set design and construction, and coordinating necessary maintenance. The Technical Director must also train and supervise student tech crews consisting of set construction, lighting, sound, props, and stage management.
Teach stagecraft course as a part of the Fine Arts Curriculum.
To work with director of the theatre productions to design and manage the construction of scenery, props, lighting and sound systems for the theatre season consisting of: Fall show, Middle School Cabaret, Christmas show, One-Act play, Middle School Play, Spring Show, and any other show.
Assists with the preparation and control of production budgets; maintains inventory and orders specialized supplies.
Assists in recruiting, training and assignment of technical crew students for individual shows.
Schedule, teach, and supervise students and parents for the construction of scenery, lights, props, and sound for shows.
Attends technical week rehearsals, in order to supervise and assist in the technical aspects of the mounting the show.
Supervise all tech crews in dress rehearsals and performances. Lock up after shows/dress rehearsals.
Operates, maintains and safeguards the technical assets of the theatre, including supervising the use of lighting, sound, communications equipment, and the use and maintenance of stage facilities.
Designs, sets up, maintains, and operates lighting and sound system for auditorium events such as assemblies, prayer services, talent shows, and other events.
Orients facility renters and visiting productions to safety, technical characteristics and other areas of facility operations; facilitates the use of the technical facilities by the resident company and others engaged by or renting the facility.
Monitors the condition of equipment including lighting, sound, and rigging equipment; arranges for the repair and replacement within budgetary constraints; performs preventive maintenance on equipment.
Makes recommendations to the theatre leadership regarding capital purchases of technical equipment.
Keep all technical storage areas clean and orderly while keeping an adequate inventory of tools, hardware, and materials.
Maintain tools in proper working condition. Teach safety and proper maintenance of tools to students and volunteers.
Maintain student letter credit records. Advise students of status after each show and counsel student progress.
Assist the theatre director with hosting the One-Act contest, securing judges, timekeeper, etc.
Assist the theatre director with the organization and execution of the end of year theatre banquet.
