Part-Time Preschool, Kindergarten, LWC Coordinator

Job Description

REPRESENTATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Review and order curriculum for preschool, kindergarten and LWC programs.
  • Create weekly lesson plans for volunteer teachers.
  • Recruit and train volunteers as needed.
  • Ensure that all volunteers have competed the necessary paperwork & (if required) VIRTUS training before working with children.
  • Maintain communication with other Faith Formation staff.
  • Evaluate programs regularly.
  • Attend other Faith Formation events as needed.

 

General

  • Attend staff meetings, events, annual staff retreat and celebrations as determined by the Parish Administrator.
  • Attendance and participation in staff meetings, staff activities appropriate to role as preschool, kindergarten and LWC coordinator, such as staff events, annual staff retreat day and staff celebrations.
  • Maintain consistent communication with other Faith Formation Coordinators, Pastor, other staff, and parishioners.
  • Assist as needed with intergenerational events, parish events, etc.
  • Evaluate programs regularly.
  • Prepare the annual preschool, kindergarten and LWC budgets.
  • Share ministerial goals each year with the parish administrator.
  • Knowledge of basic computer skills and the willingness to learn new programs as needed.
  • Participate fully in the work of the staff for the good of the whole parish.

Job Qualifications: Reports to: Parish Administrator Provides work direction to: Faith Formation Assistant and Volunteer catechists Receives work direction from: Pastor and Parish Administrator Employment Definition: Part-time FLSA: Non-exempt Hours worked per week: 10 Eligible for benefits: No JOB PURPOSE To provide curriculum, lesson plans and general Faith Formation information to volunteer teachers in the Preschool, Kindergarten and Liturgy of the Word programs. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES Employment in and by the Church is substantially different from secular employment. Church employees are held to a different and many times a higher standard of conduct. Church employees must conduct themselves in a manner which is consistent with and supportive of the mission and purpose of the Church. This position does require that the employee be a practicing Catholic because this person is responsible for the design and implementation of Faith Formation programs. MENTAL DEMANDS • Ability to communicate effectively with children, parents and volunteers and staff. • Strong organizational skills. • Ability to develop and maintain programs. • Ability to work independently. • Knowledge and understanding of Catholic faith and tradition PHYSICAL DEMANDS • Be able to work weekends. • Be able to carry and move heavy objects when necessary (stands, tables, chairs, books, etc.). • Knowledge of basic computer programs.
