Full-Time Parish Secretary

Job Description

Opening for a full-time Parish Secretary at the Church of the Holy Cross parish serving the campuses of Holy Cross, St. Clement, and St. Hedwig in Northeast Minnesota. We offer a supportive, team-based, ministry environment, a competitive wage, and a comprehensive benefits package.

Purpose of Position: The Parish Secretary has the responsibility to handle a wide range of office tasks and acts as a liaison between parishioners and Parish leadership. The Parish Secretary is expected to participate in creating a productive and harmonious environment, promoting good morale, and ensuring adequate communication.

Responsibilities:
• Welcome visitors and volunteers into the parish office
• Respond to or direct telephone calls/voicemail messages to clergy or staff member
• Receive, sort, stamp and distribute incoming mail and deliveries
• Coordinate general and bulk mailing processes
• Order supplies
• Generate sponsor and sacramental certificates
• Schedule and record mass intentions
• Assist the public with a wide range of inquiries and issues
• Maintain the parish calendar
• Maintain Safe Environment records
• Maintain accurate database of Parish members including sacramental records
• Assist with parish events
• Implement the New Parishioner Welcoming Program
• Perform other duties as needed and/or requested

Job Qualifications: • High school degree required, preferably in a related discipline • 2 to 5 years of office work and/or bookkeeping experience preferred • Parish work experience preferred • Possess customer service experience • Proficient with Microsoft Office and willingness to learn new software programs • Possess good telephone skills • Understanding of the Catholic Faith, rituals, calendar, and practices preferred • Successfully complete required background checks and safe environment training
