Full-Time Kindergarten Teacher
St. Helena Catholic School is a neighborhood, pre-K – 8th grade school in Minneapolis that has been serving the area since 1926. We are seeking a qualified, enthusiastic and passionate teacher to join our school community. The kindergarten teacher will be part of a collaborative team, helping create a positive, engaging environment for learning.
Employment in and by the Church is substantially different from secular employment. Church employees must conduct themselves in a manner that is consistent with and supportive of the mission and purpose of the Church. Be present where needed, ready to work as needed to meet responsibilities. Help create a productive environment where there is harmony, good moral and cooperative teamwork, monitor productivity and take corrective action as appropriate.
Assist and support the administration in implementing policies and rules governing student life, conduct, and behavior.
Plan and instruct religion lessons in accordance with “Instructional Responsibilities” and utilizing best practices.
Participate actively and fully in the Catholic faith.
Teach in accordance with Catholic doctrine and religious practices.
Support student participation in and understanding of sacraments.
Regular Classroom Activities
Including, but not limited to:
To establish and maintain a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the developmental age and interest of the students.
Demonstrate effective, appropriate student-management skills.
Participate in faith formation activities with students and colleagues, including but not limited to, liturgies, prayer services, and daily prayer.
Maintain appropriate and safe conduct in the classroom and throughout the campus and making sure that students are never left unsupervised in any part of the school facility.
Be responsible for the instruction of Kindergarten Standards in all academic areas.
Plan a program of study consistent with the appropriate needs of the students.
Respond to the needs of all learners in your classes by providing opportunities for differentiated instruction, and use a variety of assessment techniques.
Use a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of your classroom and the needs, interests, and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
Job Qualifications: To have and maintain a current Minnesota teaching license in the level and/or area of specialty in which they teach. Demonstrate an understanding and acceptance of Catholic doctrine, along with a commitment to the mission of St. Helena Church and School. Successfully complete the Essential 3 requirements – Virtus training, background check, and Code of Conduct. Ability to communicate positively with students, parents, faculty, administration, parishioners, and the broader community. Ability to work in a team as a member of the faculty, and actively promote the mission of the parish and school. Computer skills that include the use of Microsoft products, applications, student grading and management software, email, and internet-based programs.
