Full-Time Director of Liturgical Music
St. Gerard’s in Brooklyn Park has a very unique and rich musical history and Music is at the core of who we are as a Parish! We typically have had more contemporary ensembles, but skills in both contemporary and traditional are a must. The Director of Liturgical Music will be responsible for playing, singing and directing a team of volunteer singers and musicians using state of the art digital sound systems. They right candidate will be a dynamic liturgical musician with experience building and running a music program. They will provide Music for all weekend and Holy Day and Special feast day celebrations. Weekend Masses are Saturday at 5:00PM and Sunday at 8:30 and 10:30.

They will coordinate and schedule all Masses, ensembles, cantors and any accompanists as needed, but will be playing a very active role in the Masses.
– Supervise other regular, part time, paid or unpaid musicians.
– Schedule all musicians for liturgies
- Run rehearsals as needed.
- Maintain all musical equipment including coordinating tunings and repairs
- Play for funerals and weddings (extra pay available)
- Schedule musicians needed for Christmas, Easter and other special occasions, and ensure there is adequate time for them to prepare
- To participate in creating a productive environment, promoting good morale, adequate communication and cooperative teamwork.
Job Qualifications: 1. College degree or equivalent in music training and experience. 2. Five years of musical directing experience in Liturgy and Music. 3. Demonstrated exceptional music skills and proficiency on their instrument(s). 4. Demonstrated proficiency in musical Direction and pedagogy. 5. Active, participating Catholic in good standing with the Church 6. Knowledge of the structure of Catholic Liturgies. 7. Ability to work as a member of a team. 8. Maintaining high standards of confidentiality. 9. Proficiency as a musician and director 10. Good written and oral communications skills. 11. The ability to direct volunteers and paid staff. 12. The ability to work without supervision.
