Totino-Grace High School Dormitory Chef, Part-Time Position
JOB POSTING

The Totino-Grace High School Residence Center (student dormitory), located in Fridley, Minnesota, is currently seeking a part-time, motivated, energetic, and creative cook with an outstanding attitude and the passion to serve. The Dormitory Cook will work in an onsite kitchen facility to prepare meals daily for approximately 10 international high school students.
The commitment for this part-time position is 2:30 to 6:30 p.m., Wednesday – Friday to purchase, prepare, and serve dinner as well as prepare and store breakfast and lunch items for the weekend and as needed. The dormitory facility is open every day during the academic school year with the exception of a two week Christmas break.
Employment in and by a Catholic school is substantially different from secular employment. Their behavior must not violate the faith, morals or laws of the Church or the Archdiocese, such that can embarrass the school or give rise to scandal. It is preferred that all employees be active, participating members of a faith community.

August 10, 2020 and ending June 18, 2021.

General Responsibilities
Operate the dormitory kitchen, providing balanced meals and snacks for the residents while keeping within the guidelines, certifications, menus, and food cost budgets as established.
Maintain adequate inventory of food and dry goods supplies for the dormitory kitchen.
Order food and dry goods supplies from vendors or purchase directly as needed as well as perform daily/weekly inventory checks to ensure minimal spoilage and waste of products.
Inspect and ensure all equipment used for food service is performing correctly and notify the Dormitory Director of any service needed for preventive and regular maintenance of equipment.
Ensure all food service related equipment and areas within the location are kept clean and are cleaned on a regular basis.
Ensure and be accountable that the dormitory kitchen meets proper food safety and sanitation standards as established by the local Board of Health Departments.
Create, communicate, and post monthly menus and seek menu recommendations from student residents.
Maintain a warm, welcoming environment within our dormitory community.
Attend staff meetings as directed by the Dormitory Director.

Job Qualifications: Required Qualifications Food Service Certifications required as mandated by state / local laws. Physical and emotional ability to work in a school dormitory. Knowledge of appropriate safety and security precautions appropriate to work performed in a kitchen. Authorization to work in the United States. Minimum Age: 21 years old Valid driver's license and a good driving record. Candidates will be required to pass a background check. Desired Qualifications: Two years of college or related dormitory experience Strong interest and experience working with adolescents Strong communication and leadership skills An ability to work both independently and as a productive member of a team Interest or experience working and living with teenagers. Knowledge of various cultures and their customs Knowledge or experience serving in a multicultural environment. Interest in living and working in community Valid US driver’s license required. Ability to drive up to a 12 passenger van.
