Description
Title: Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Coordinator
Focus: Families with children in our preschool with growth to church families.
Reports to: Director of Discipleship with collaboration of school Principal and preschool Director.
Direct Reports: Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Catechists, Assistants and Volunteers
Provides Work Direction to: Office of Discipleship and Mission ODM Administrative Staff, Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Catechists, Assistants and Volunteers
Receives Work Direction from: Director of Discipleship
FLSA: Non-exempt
Hours: Part-time, 24 hours per week on average, 12 months
Schedule: Monday – Friday flexible hours with some evening and weekend work.

Job Purpose: To assist the preschool and church with ministry and formation needs of children in preschool ages along with the families as they encounter Christ and learn to live within the heart of the Catholic Church. This position will develop, coordinate, and implement the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd efforts in forming our youngest disciples in our preschool with growth to the church.
Responsibilities include leading the program in development, teaching, training, scheduling and supervision of catechists, assistants, and volunteers. Working as team member alongside preschool staff in providing Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program to the religion curriculum. Provide communication plan, material development, and maintenance of atrium. Work as a team member in ministry to young families with ministry offerings throughout the year.
Qualifications
- Must be a practicing Catholic with a sound understanding of Catholic Tradition and Scripture.
- Demonstrate understanding and acceptance of Catholic doctrine.
- Bachelor of arts degree in ministry, theology, or early childhood or elementary education.
- Certification in Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Level 1a, 1b. Experience in teaching Level 1a, 1b. Preferred 2a, 2b training certification and experience or willing to acquire necessary training and experience.
- Three years’ experience working in a similar position preferred.
- Demonstrated skills and interests in this type of work.
- Ability to satisfactorily pass a criminal background check.
- Strong computer and social media skills. Be knowledgeable in the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Publisher, and Outlook).
