Youth Formation and Discipleship Leader

St. Jude of the Lake is seeking a passionate and faith-filled Youth Formation and Discipleship Leader to help guide young people into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ and active life in the Church. This position plays a vital role in forming middle school students, high school youth, and young adults through dynamic catechesis, meaningful relationships, and transformative faith experiences.

We are looking for someone who loves working with youth, believes in the power of discipleship, and is excited to walk with young people as they grow in faith, leadership, and confidence in their Catholic identity.

The Youth Formation and Discipleship Leader fosters faith formation by developing engaging ministry programs, teaching middle school religious education, and coordinating Confirmation preparation. This leader helps create environments where young people encounter Christ, build authentic community, and grow as disciples who serve others.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Theology, Pastoral Ministry, or a related field preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in youth or young adult ministry, including retreat leadership.
• Experience working with middle school students in a catechetical or school setting.
• Practicing Catholic in good standing, willing to model and support the mission of Catholic education

 Skills and Abilities:

• Strong knowledge of Catholic teachings, liturgy, and sacramental preparation.
• Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal abilities to connect with youth, parents, and volunteers.
• Proficiency in social media and communication tools for ministry promotion.
• Ability to lead and accompany youth in faith formation experiences, including retreats, conferences, and service opportunities

Physical and Mental Demands 

• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to support parish, school, and ministry events
• Ability to travel and participate in overnight ministry experiences such as camps, conferences, and retreats (e.g., Extreme Faith Camp, Steubenville Youth Conference)
• Capability to lift and transport materials for events and activities (up to 25 pounds).
• Maintain energy and enthusiasm during retreats, camps, and other extended ministry events.
