Position Summary
Benilde-St. Margaret’s School (BSM) is seeking a transformational leader to serve as Varsity Head Boys Basketball Coach and architect of the next era of BSM Basketball.
This position is more than a seasonal coaching role- it is an opportunity to build, align, and elevate a comprehensive 6–12 basketball program rooted in accountability, player development, and competitive excellence. The Head Coach will establish a clear program identity, implement modern systems, foster year-round development, and create a culture that reflects BSM’s Catholic, college-preparatory mission.
Core Leadership Expectations
We are seeking a leader who will:
- Build a unified 6–12 program structure with clear standards, terminology, and developmental benchmarks
- Establish a disciplined, high-accountability culture centered on leadership, toughness, and character
- Implement a cohesive style of play on both ends of the floor with long-term sustainability
- Develop a comprehensive offseason model including strength training, skill development, and team programming
- Recruit, mentor, and evaluate assistant coaches who align with the program vision
- Collaborate with school leadership to position basketball as a cornerstone of school pride and community engagement
- Promote multi-sport participation while maintaining competitive standards
- Represent BSM with professionalism within the Metro West Conference and MSHSL
Essential Responsibilities
- Lead all aspects of preseason, in-season, and postseason preparation
- Oversee player development across all levels (grades 6–12)
- Align with the Strength & Conditioning Coordinator on year-round performance programming
- Manage administrative responsibilities including scheduling, rosters, equipment, and film coordination
- Maintain proactive and professional communication with players, parents, and the Athletics Office
- Ensure full compliance with MSHSL rules and BSM policies
- Foster a positive, growth-oriented student-athlete experience while maintaining competitive expectations
Season & Year-Round Commitment
Season Duration: November through March (dependent on advancement)
Year-Round Expectation: Program development, offseason training oversight, youth engagement, and staff coordination (Potential Summer Camp Earnings: $5,000–$30,000)
This is a year-round leadership role requiring vision, structure, and sustained engagement.

Qualifications
Required:
- Proven experience playing or coaching competitive basketball (high school, collegiate, or higher)
- Demonstrated ability to build culture and lead a program
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
- Commitment to developing student-athletes as leaders on and off the court
Preferred:
- Head coaching or coordinator-level experience at the high school or collegiate level
- Experience building or restructuring a basketball program
- Knowledge of MSHSL rules and compliance
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
Other Requirements:
- Successful completion of background check and BSM Safe Environment training
- Commitment to BSM’s Catholic mission and values
