Temporary Middle School Social Studies Teacher (Grades 7–8)

St. Vincent de Paul Catholic School is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Temporary Middle School Social Studies Teacher to join our strong Middle School team during a maternity leave from March through June 2026. This position will teach 7th and 8th grade History and Geography, as well as one section of 8th Grade Literature. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about working with adolescents, committed to academic excellence, and supportive of our school’s mission and Catholic identity.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Teach History and Geography to 7th and 8th grade students using engaging, developmentally appropriate instructional strategies.

• Teach one section of 8th Grade Literature, fostering strong reading comprehension, discussion, and critical-thinking skills.

• Collaborate closely with four Middle School teaching partners to ensure cohesive instruction, alignment with curriculum, and shared expectations across the team.

• Create a classroom environment that supports student learning, respect, and responsibility.

• Communicate regularly and professionally with students, families, and colleagues.

• Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of middle school students.

• Integrate Catholic values into interactions, classroom culture, and appropriate aspects of curriculum.

• Assess student progress and provide timely, constructive feedback.

• Maintain accurate records including grades, attendance, and curriculum documentation.

• BA or BS Degree, Current MN Teaching License
• Exhibit competence in instructional methods and knowledge of subject matter being taught.
• Demonstrate evidence of good classroom management techniques.
• Develop and maintain a positive rapport and relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
• Experience with technology in the classroom, including the use of SMARTBoards, Chromebooks, Google Suite, and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to communicate effectively and in a timely fashion with school, students, staff, and parents.
