Hours/ Schedule:     Weekday hours (Monday – Friday) / 20 –25 hours per week

PURPOSE OF POSITION

The purpose of the Technical Support Coordinator position is to ensure the smooth operation of IT systems and provide timely technical support to staff at The Basilica of Saint Mary. This role plays a key part in bridging internal users with external IT vendors, resolving basic technical issues, and supporting digital tools such as Microsoft 365 and SharePoint. The Technical Support Coordinator contributes to the overall mission and goals of The Basilica by enabling staff to work efficiently and securely through reliable technological support.

SCOPE OF POSITION

Work assignments and direction primarily originate from the Managing Director of Operations. Additional coordination and task direction may come from an external IT vendor. Staff liaison with IT vendor. This position does not supervise any staff positions.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS AND MAJOR ACTIVITIES

  • Configure and maintain user accounts and workstations in both an Active Directory and Microsoft 365 environments.
  • Provide first-level support for hardware and software issues, including Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, printers.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve basic network connectivity issues.
  • Assist with SharePoint functionality including Site Document Libraries, OneDrive integration, resolving general access issues and other related Utilities/Processes (Forms, Lists, Power Automate).
  • Manage email accounts in Microsoft 365, including forwarding, shared mailboxes, user access.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as System Health Updates and Hardware Troubleshooting / Repair / Upgrades.
  • Document support activities and update tickets in the help desk system.
  • Work directly with our external IT vendor to coordinate support and escalate issues as needed.
  • Participate in scheduled IT meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Be ready to work on time for all scheduled hours and accept additional responsibilities identified (as needed) by your supervisor.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Managing Director of Operations.

Compensation and Benefits

The wage range for this position is $28 - $29 per hour. This part-time position will be eligible for Sick and Safe Leave, vacation time, floating holiday, 403b & 403b matching
up to 3%.

Designation of Essential Functions

Employment in and by the Church is substantially different from secular employment. However, as a parish community rooted in the teachings of the Catholic Church, employees/volunteers are expected to be knowledgeable of core tenets and respectful of the mission, purpose, and teachings of the Catholic faith.

Qualifications

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proficient with Windows 10/11 operating systems.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 apps, especially Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint.
  • Understanding of computer hardware components and peripherals.
  • Previous Internship or help desk experience is a plus.
  • Expertise with SharePoint document libraries and forms a plus.
  • Exposure to Intune or other device management platforms.
  • Experience with Raiser’s Edge or similar donor management systems is a plus.
  • Comfortable learning to work closely with staff, volunteers, and external vendors.

 

Education & Certifications

  • Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent technical training or certifications (e.g., Microsoft 365 Fundamentals and/or Google Fundamentals.
  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science or related discipline is preferred.

 

Physical Demands

  • Ability to lift and move computer equipment (up to 25 lbs.)
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers to operate computers and peripherals
  • Occasional bending, crouching, and crawling to access equipment or cables
  • Ability to sit or stand at a workstation for extended periods

 

Mental Demands

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a dynamic environment
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Patience and clarity in communicating technical information to non-technical users
  • Ability to work independently while coordinating with IT vendor and other stakeholders
