Description
Good Shepherd Catholic School is seeking a Physical Education Teacher of a preschool-6th grade physical education program. The PE teacher plays a crucial role in fostering the physical, social, and emotional development of young learners. The PE teacher can also serve as the Athletic Director, for additional responsibilities and compensation.
Develop and implement age-appropriate physical education for students, aligned with state and school standards. Provide effective and engaging instruction that promotes the physical development of motor skills, fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Assess students' physical abilities, progress, and understanding, and meet the needs of varying abilities in students. Manage a positive and inclusive classroom environment, and communicate effectively with students, staff, and guardians.
For additional compensation and responsibility, the PE teacher is invited to apply for the Athletic Director role. Good Shepherd is part of the SSYO and offers activities for students Pre K-6th. The Athletic Director is responsible for communicating with guardians and registering students within the league, organizing gym time, and athletic opportunities for students - including ski club, soccer, volleyball, basketball, and more.
Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, or a related field.
- Teaching certification or licensure in physical education (Experience working with children in an educational setting, preferably in physical education).
- Strong understanding of child development, physical fitness principles, and pedagogical strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and community members.
- Certification in CPR, and First Aid (Can take courses if hired)
- Knowledge of adaptive physical education techniques for students with disabilities.
- Coaching experience in various sports or physical activities.
