Description

We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Physical Education (PE) Teacher and Athletic Coach to join our team at Immaculate Conception School. This dual-role position involves teaching physical education to students and coaching one or more athletic teams. The ideal candidate will inspire students to maintain healthy lifestyles, develop athletic skills, and foster teamwork and discipline. This role combines classroom instruction, hands-on coaching, and the development of students' overall physical and mental well-being.

Key Responsibilities

Physical Education Teacher

  • Develop and deliver engaging PE curriculum for students (grades PreK-8)
  • Promote physical fitness, health, and wellness education to students of all abilities.
  • Plan and conduct physical activities, exercises, and sports that help develop motor skills, coordination, and physical fitness.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages participation and growth.
  • Assess and evaluate student performance in physical activities and maintain appropriate records of progress.
  • Incorporate health and nutrition education into physical education programs.
  • Implement safety protocols to ensure the health and safety of students during physical activities.
  • Collaborate with fellow educators to integrate physical education with other subject areas when appropriate.
  • Encourage teamwork, leadership, and good sportsmanship both in and out of the gymnasium.

Athletic Coach

  • Coach one or more athletic teams (e.g., football, basketball, soccer, track & field, etc.) and guide students through practice, conditioning, and competitions.
  • Develop training programs to improve athletic performance and prepare teams for competitions.
  • Provide mentorship and leadership to student-athletes, instilling values of hard work, discipline, and respect.
  • Organize and supervise team practices, games, and events, ensuring all logistics are handled smoothly.
  • Maintain effective communication with athletes, parents, school administration, and athletic associations.
  • Track and analyze team and individual athlete performance, adjusting strategies and techniques as needed.
  • Ensure adherence to school, district, and league rules and regulations during practices and competitions.
  • Manage equipment, uniforms, and other athletic gear for teams and ensure they are maintained properly.
  • Attend athletic meetings and collaborate with other coaches and staff to support the development of the athletic program.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in physical education, Kinesiology, Sports Science, or a related field.
  • Valid state teaching certification in Physical Education (or eligible for certification).
  • Coaching experience in high school or college athletics is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of physical fitness, health education, and various sports disciplines.
  • Ability to design effective fitness and training programs for athletes of varying skill levels.
