Description
Purpose of Position
To provide a clean, sanitary, safe and aesthetically pleasing environment for all church and school areas.
General Responsibilities:
Employment in and by the Church is substantially different from secular employment. Church employees must conduct themselves in a manner which is consistent with and supportive of the mission and purpose of the Church. Their public behavior must not violate the faith, morals or laws of the Church or the Archdiocese, such that can embarrass the Church or give rise to scandal. This position does not require that the employee be a Catholic. It is expected that all employees respect Catholic doctrine and religious practices. Reasonable accommodation for the religious practice of employees not of the Roman Catholic faith will similarly be provided.
Representative Responsibilities
- Keep Business Administrator informed of day-to-day operations and incidents.
- Complete daily cleaning series on a scheduled basis. This includes vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, dusting, cleaning bathrooms, kitchen, and school areas.
- Maintain the weekly trash and recycling removal schedule for all areas of the facility and pick up debris around buildings. Pick up trash or recycling out-of-schedule as required.
- Wash windows, strip and wash floors, shampoo carpets, dust/polish furniture.
- Respond to any critical calls including Fire Alarms, broken water pipes and restroom emergencies.
- Assist in the upkeep of boiler systems. Inspect equipment to ensure safe and correct operations.
- Maintain buildings by cleaning to ensure a safe and healthy environment for all parishioners and staff.
- Stand in for Building Engineer when he is unable to do a walk-through with various inspectors and contractors.
- Conduct visual inspections of church building(s) and grounds on a continual basis, noting any items needing repair, replacement and/or cleaning.
- Inventory all cleaning products so as to ensure proper inventory.
- Answer calls from staff, coming in on days off if needed for emergency building issues.
Event related (includes funerals, school groups, rentals, and other miscellaneous groups) As needed
- Set up and take down
- Clean up during and after events
- Provide security as needed
Other
- To be present, ready to work and on time for all scheduled hours
- Remain current in areas of maintenance
- Includes other responsibilities identified as needed by the employee and approved/assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications
Job Qualifications:
- Available for evening emergencies
- Able to pass a Background Check and Physical Examination
- Have completed Essential 3: background check, code of conduct & Virtus training
- Dependable and punctual
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and to be able to make decisions appropriate to the role

- Provide own reliable and timely transportation between community sites and sites of ministry
- Pushing, pulling, bending and ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

- To be able to climb stairs and ladders and to work at heights
- Ability to be on feet for extended periods of time
- Execution of tasks that require repetitive motion
- Ability to operate tools and equipment in a safe and effective manner
- Successful completion of pre-employment physical
