Description

Annunciation School is a vibrant, Catholic school serving students from preschool through 8th grade. We are seeking a qualified, passionate, creative educator for our Creative Arts K-8 teaching position (Visual Arts/Performance/Music).  Annunciation has a rich history of creative arts, blending music education with theater, improvisation, speech, visual art and other communication skills.  Through these integrated learning experiences, students gain confidence, develop their creativity and nurture the talents and gifts God has given them. The Creative Arts program fits with the mission and philosophy of Annunciation Catholic School and International Baccalaureate (IB) world school, to develop the whole child as an inquirer and life-long learner. 

This full-time teacher will be part of a collaborative staff, helping create a positive, engaging environment for learning. As an IB world school, Annunciation is looking for educators who use inquiry and student-focused activities to engage students in meaningful learning activities that meet the needs of a diverse group of students.  IB teachers are open-minded, life-long learners who bring a global perspective to the learning experience. 

Qualifications

  • Valid Minnesota Teaching License preferred
  • Follows the mission of Annunciation Catholic School.
  • Creates a Christ-like atmosphere in which the needs of the whole child are met.
  • Creates a safe, expressive classroom environment centered on visual and performing arts.
  • Provides vision and direction for the Creative Arts program, grade K-8.
  • Teaches public speaking skills through the use of drama and music curriculum. 
  • Scaffolds performing arts curriculum to each grade level so that learning is sequential to the student’s years at Annunciation.
  • Directs the  Christmas Program: production, teaching multiple songs per grade, etc.
  • Directs the Spring Concert (3rd-6th grade).
  • Directs music for 8th grade graduation
  • Adapts music and drama curriculum to focus on building character, boosting creativity, and bolstering confidence to the individual student. 
  • Is comfortable with utilizing secular and parochial music and material in the classroom toward curriculum goals.
  • Ability to play an instrument (guitar or piano) preferred. 
  • The teacher is also responsible to teach art with a balance on learning both applied art and art history.

  • Possesses an ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff. 
  • Collaborates with colleagues to ensure student successes. 
  • Is a self- starter with the ability to take initiative and prioritize tasks.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to on-going professional development.
